Influences of S100A8 and S100A9 on Proliferation of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Cells through PI3K/Akt Signaling Pathway
CONCLUSION: SiRNA S100A8 and S100A9 could inhibit the proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells, and the underlying mechanism may be related to the inhibition of PI3K/Akt signaling pathway.PMID:34604387 | PMC:PMC8486551 | DOI:10.1155/2021/9917365

NAP1L1 targeting suppresses the proliferation of nasopharyngeal carcinoma
In this study, we detected the upregulated expression of NAP1L1 mRNA and protein levels by quantitative polymerase chain reaction and Western blot analysis in NPC cell lines. Results of the immunohistochemistry analysis of NPC tissue biopsies showed that upregulated NAP1L1 protein expression promoted NPC progression and negatively correlated with poor prognosis in NPC patients. Suppression of NAP1L1 expression by small interfering RNA (siRNA) or small hairpin RNA (shRNA) methods significantly decreased cell proliferation in vivo and in vitro. Mechanism analysis revealed that the regulation of cell growth was enriched by Ge...

Limb-bud and heart (LBH) inhibits cellular migration, invasion and epithelial-mesenchymal transition in nasopharyngeal carcinoma via downregulating αB-crystallin expression
Cell Signal. 2021 May 14:110045. doi: 10.1016/j.cellsig.2021.110045. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTLimb-bud and heart (LBH) gene has received increasing attention in recent cancer studies. Here we investigated the role of the LBH gene in regulating the metastasis capacity and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells, and its potential mechanism. The expressions of LBH and αB-crystallin (CRYAB) were modulated by lentiviral infection, or plasmid/siRNA transfection, and the phosphorylation of p38 was suppressed by an inhibitor, to explore their functions in modulating NPC cell phenotype...

Differential expression of < em > COL4A3 < /em > and collagen in upward and downward progressing types of nasopharyngeal carcinoma
In conclusion, the gene mutation patterns were significantly different between the upward and downward progressing types of NPC. In addition, the expression level of the COL4A3 gene was decreased in the downward progressing type, which might promote NPC metastasis through the downregulation of extracellular collagen expression.PMID:33613712 | PMC:PMC7859474 | DOI:10.3892/ol.2021.12484

Effect of HIF-1 αsiRNA-linked AuNRs on radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Effect of HIF-1αsiRNA-linked AuNRs on radiotherapy of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand). 2020 Jul 31;66(5):185-190 Authors: Xu G, Zhang H, Li Z, Wu S, Quan R, Mao K, Sheng Y, Li X Abstract The radiation sensitivity of tumor cells is closely related to tumor cell hypoxia. Hypoxia-inducible factor-1α (HIF-1α) is considered a key transcription factor which regulates the sensitivity of hypoxic tumor cells to radiotherapy. On the other hand, some studies have shown that gold nanomaterials improve radiation sensitivity. However, studies on the effect of gold nanomaterials carrying H...

MIR106A-5p upregulation suppresses autophagy and accelerates malignant phenotype in nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
Abstract Dysregulated microRNAs (miRNAs) are involved in carcinoma progression, metastasis, and poor prognosis. We demonstrated that in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC), transactivated MIR106A-5p promotes a malignant phenotype by functioning as a macroautophagy/autophagy suppressor by targeting BTG3 (BTG anti-proliferation factor 3) and activating autophagy-regulating MAPK signaling. MIR106A-5p expression was markedly increased in NPC cases based on quantitative real-time PCR, miRNA microarray, and TCGA database analysis findings. Moreover, MIR106A-5p was correlated with advanced stage, recurrence, and poor clinical...
