Hepatitis C-associated Osteosclerosis (HCAO): Long-Term Follow-Up of a New Case Recovered After Antiviral Treatment
In conclusion, HCAO, although rare, should be considered among the potential causes of increased bone mass in patients with HCV infection, and treatment for the underlying infection may be effective in controlling the manifestations of this disease.

Relapsing cytokine release syndrome in a patient with metastatic renal cell carcinoma treated with pembrolizumab and axitinib therapy
AbstractAs immune checkpoint inhibitors become more widely available, the optimal management of immune-related adverse events (irAEs) is becoming increasingly important. Although irAEs are diverse, reports on cytokine release syndrome are rare. Here, we report a case of a 48-year-old man with relapsing cytokine release syndrome after receiving pembrolizumab and axitinib combination therapy for metastatic renal cell carcinoma. During dose reduction of prednisolone for immune-related hepatitis on day 33 after starting pembrolizumab plus axitinib, the patient suddenly developed abdominal pain, and a few hours later became hyp...

Molecules, Vol. 28, Pages 5653: Plectranthus Species with Anti-Inflammatory and Analgesic Potential: A Systematic Review on Ethnobotanical and Pharmacological Findings
This study identified twelve Plectranthus species indicated for the treatment of different inflammatory conditions, such as wounds, fever, bronchitis, abscess, asthma, hepatitis, labyrinthitis, tonsillitis, and uterine inflammation. The indications for pain conditions included headache, sore throat, heartburn, menstrual cramp, colic, toothache, stomachache, migraine, chest pain, abdominal pain, local pain, labor pain, and recurring pain. Among the listed species, ten plants were found to be used according to traditional knowledge, although only four of them have been experimentally studied. When assessing the methodologica...

The Effect of Renal Replacement Therapy in a Patient with Mercaptopurine Toxicity: Time to Revise Guidelines
CONCLUSION: In this case of thiopurine toxicity, a patient with autoimmune hepatitis presents with abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. We show in this case report that renal replacement therapy had no effect on total body clearance of mercaptopurine.PMID:37455454 | DOI:10.2174/1574886318666230714105801

Metabolic activation and cytotoxicity of metaxalone mediated by cytochrome P450 enzymes and sulfotransferases
Chem Biol Interact. 2023 Jul 11:110628. doi: 10.1016/j.cbi.2023.110628. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTMetaxalone (MTX) is a central nervous system (CNS) depressant used for the treatment of acute skeletal muscle pain. Several cases of fatal overdose deaths in the clinical use of MTX, along with the presence of ischemic hepatitis in deceased patients, have been documented. The present study aimed to investigate the metabolic activation of MTX and to define the possible correlation between the metabolic activation and cytotoxicity of MTX. An oxidative metabolite (M1) and a GSH conjugate (M2) were observed in S9 fraction incu...
