The effects of Ankaferd hemostat on preventing oral mucositis in colorectal cancer patients receiving chemotherapy
ConclusionsIt was determined that Ankaferd hemostat is effective in preventing oral mucositis due to chemotherapy in adult patients diagnosed with colorectal cancer. In addition, it has been suggested to conduct new studies on the effectiveness of Ankaferd hemostat in the prevention of mucositis in different groups.Trial registrationThe study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov (ID: NCT05438771, Date: 25.06.2022).

Cancers, Vol. 15, Pages 2644: US Evaluation of Topical Hemostatic Agents in Post-Thyroidectomy
Conclusions: with equal hemostatic effectiveness, the fibrin glue pad is more favorable in the ultrasound follow-up because it creates reduced surgical outcomes. It is also important to know and recognize the ultrasound characteristics of oxidized cellulose-based hemostats in order to reduce the number of diagnostic errors and inappropriate diagnostic investigations.

The use of sealing hemostat patch (HEMOPATCH ®) in laparotomic myomectomy: a prospective case–control study
ConclusionsHEMOPATCH®, during laparotomic myomectomy, is a valid alternative solution for obtaining rapid hemostasis and consequently intraoperative and postoperative bleeding. Furthermore, we suggest that a lower inflammatory peritoneal state is probably correlated with the barrier effect of the patch on the suture.

Microneedle Bandage for Hemostatic Control
Scientists at Penn State have developed a microneedle bandage that can rapidly stop bleeding. Uncontrolled bleeding following a traumatic injury is a major cause of death in the young, and developing new medical technologies that can rapidly stop ble...

Comparison between Single and Three Times Pre-operative Administration of Amoxicillin in the Prophylactic Effects for Surgical Site Infections in Japanese Patients with Mandibular Third Molars Extraction
Yakugaku Zasshi. 2022;142(12):1391-1398. doi: 10.1248/yakushi.22-00163.ABSTRACTAlthough the dosage of oral antibiotics (OA) for the mandibular third molar extraction (MTME) varies among the administration periods according to the current guideline, our previous reports suggested that it might be possible to further shorten the administration period without increasing the incidence of surgical site infection (SSI). In the present study, we retrospectively evaluated the relationship between the incidence of SSI and the administration period of OA in patients who underwent the MTME in our hospital. This retrospective cohort s...

A Comparative Study of the Resorption and Immune Response for Two Starch-Based Hemostat Powders
Powder hemostats are valuable adjuncts to minimize intraoperative and postoperative complications. In addition to promotion of rapid coagulation, resorption, and biocompatibility are desirable attributes. Plant starch-based polysaccharide hemostat powders are effective and widely used hemostatic agents, however their source and/or processing can affect characteristics such as in  vivo degradability. For example, Arista is a purified/hydrolyzed starch powder that is rapidly resorbed in vivo; whereas PerClot shows slow resorption and preservation of a crystalline form.

Antineoplastic Effects of Ankaferd Hemostat
CONCLUSION: ABS alters cell metabolism and cell cycle. ABS has antineoplastic role on cancer cells. The expanding context of ABS compromises anti-infective, antineoplastic, and wound healing features. ABS may also be used for the palliative, adjuvant, neoadjuvant, or supportive use by interventional radiology procedures for the treatment of solid tumors. Future controlled studies are necessary to clarify the pleiotropic role of ABS like antineoplastic, antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-infective, antifungal, and antioxidative effects.PMID:35958818 | PMC:PMC9363200 | DOI:10.1155/2022/2665903
