Determining Medical Urgency of Voice Disorders Using Auditory-Perceptual Voice Assessments Performed by Speech-Language Pathologists
CONCLUSIONS: SLPs identified 86% of medically urgent voice disorders when auditory perceptual assessments were combined with medical history information. Further work is needed to determine what medical history information is most crucial to rating accuracy and what speech tasks might best separate urgent and nonurgent patients.PMID:34282649 | DOI:10.1177/00034894211032779

Increased medical utilization and psychiatric comorbidity following a new diagnosis of methamphetamine use disorder
CONCLUSIONS: We found significant increases of medical utilization and psychiatric comorbidities after diagnosed with methamphetamine use disorder. These findings may reflect the problem of delayed diagnosis and treatment. Enhancement of early identification of methamphetamine use disorder in general practice is required for early intervention and decreased subsequent morbidities.PMID:34670448 | DOI:10.1080/00952990.2021.1979990

Environment-Friendly Vocal Music Ecological Education: Sustainable Development of Vocal Music Education from the Perspective of Building
J Environ Public Health. 2022 Aug 23;2022:5168389. doi: 10.1155/2022/5168389. eCollection 2022.ABSTRACTWith the acceleration of the modernization of human society, natural ecology is continuously destroyed, which inevitably brings about the crisis of the human spirit, and human beings progressively lose the ability to draw power from nature. Similarly, music is losing its function of freeing people from secularity and becoming a carrier of pure utility. For a long time, there have been some disharmonious factors in the ecological environment of vocal music teaching. For example, some vocal music teaching facilities are out...

Towards an Explanatory Framework of Informal and Incidental Learning in Medical Education: A Deductive Analysis of Critical Incidents from Frontline Physicians Working During the COVID-19 Pandemic
We examined the Marsick and Watkins Model of Informal and Incidental Learning (IIL) as a framework to describe how physicians learn in the clinical environment, particularly when working through heightened uncertainty. Objective: Our study aims to describe how emergency medicine physicians engage in and rely on informal and incidental learning when working through the uncertainty of clinical practice. Methods: A qualitative deductive analysis of physicians ’ narratives using the critical incident...

What is PAN?
Discussion Vasculitis is an inflammation of the blood vessels. Often, the term implies the arterial vessels, but venous and capillary vessels can be affected. The nomenclature to describe vasculitis and its classification have varied over time. Arterial vessel size is one method and some more common entities include: Small vessel, mainly Granulomatous – granulomatosis with polyangiitis (aka Wegener’s granulomatosis), eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (aka Churg Strauss syndrome) Nongranulomatous – Henoch-Schonlein purpura (HSP), microscopic polyangiitis Medium vessel, mainly Childhood sys...

Trading off nutrition and education? A panel data analysis of the dissimilar welfare effects of Organic and Fairtrade standards
Publication date: August 2017 Source:Food Policy, Volume 71 Author(s): Eva-Marie Meemken, David J. Spielman, Matin Qaim Millions of smallholder farmers in developing countries participate in different types of sustainability standards. A growing body of literature has analyzed the welfare effects, with mixed results. Yet, there are important knowledge gaps. First, most existing studies have looked at the effects of one standard in one country. When comparing between studies it is unclear whether dissimilar outcomes are the result of different standards or different local conditions. Second, most studies have used cross-se...

Synthetic Manipulation of Hybrid Perovskite Systems in Search of Novel and Enhanced Functionalities.
Abstract Over the past few years the organic/Inorganic hybrid perovskite systems have emerged as a promising class of materials for photo-voltaic and electroluminescent thin film device applications, in view of their unique set of tunable optoelectronic properties. Importantly, these materials can be easily solution-processed at low temperatures and as such are amenable to facile molecular engineering. Thus, a variety of low dimensional forms and quantum structures of these materials can be obtained through strategic synthetic manipulations via small molecule incorporation or molecular ion doping. In this mini rev...
