Skin testing and oral amoxicillin challenge in the outpatient allergy and clinical immunology clinic in penicillin-allergic pregnant women.
CONCLUSION: Penicillin skin testing and oral challenge in pregnant women can safely be performed in the outpatient setting. There was no difference in intrapartum antibiotic use between women who were or were not challenged. Further research is needed to determine the utility of oral challenge in pregnant patients. Food allergy: the perspectives of prevention using vitamin D
Purpose of reviewWe reviewed the scientific publications in the last 2 years on the connections between vitamin D and food allergy, and endeavor to focus on the possible indications for supplementation in order to prevent allergies. Recent findingsEcological studies have suggested a possible relationship between sun exposure and atopic diseases such as asthma, atopic dermatitis and anaphylaxis. However, no direct evaluation of vitamin D status has been performed. Recent studies evaluating the relationship with vitamin D levels at birth or during pregnancy have shown conflicting results with the lower levels of vitamin D as...

Pregnancy and Hymenoptera venom allergy
Purpose of review To evaluate the indication to perform venom immunotherapy (VIT) during pregnancy considering the risks of adverse events during the build-up phase or the maintenance phase and analyzing specific articles and guidelines on VIT. Recent findings Only few studies treat this argument and literature only counts one recent study on the topic, whereas recent guidelines state the behavior to keep in pregnancy. Summary Hymenoptera venom allergy (HVA) affects about 7.5% of the European population. VIT is the only effective disease-modifying treatment for patients presenting anaphylactic reactions. VIT counts...

EAACI Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Guidelines. Primary prevention of food allergy
Abstract Food allergy can have significant effects on morbidity and quality of life and can be costly in terms of medical visits and treatments. There is therefore considerable interest in generating efficient approaches that may reduce the risk of developing food allergy. This guideline has been prepared by the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology's (EAACI) Taskforce on Prevention and is part of the EAACI Guidelines for Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis. It aims to provide evidence‐based recommendations for primary prevention of food allergy. A wide range of antenatal, perinatal, neonatal, and childhood strate...
