Der p 1 ‐specific regulatory T cell response during house dust mite allergen immunotherapy
ConclusionThe results indicate that AIT involves upregulation of the activated allergen ‐specific Treg cells and downregulation of dysfunctional allergen‐specific Treg cells subset. Correction of dysregulated Treg cells responses during AIT is associated with improved clinical response. This article is protected by copyright. All rights reserved. (Source: Allergy)

CCR10+ ILC2s with ILC1 ‐like properties exhibit a protective function in severe allergic asthma
ConclusionsFrequencies of circulating CCR10+ ILC2s and CCL27 plasma concentrations represent candidate markers of asthma severity. The characterization of CCR10+ ILC2s in human samples and in mouse asthma models suggests that these cells downregulate allergic inflammation through IFN ‐γ production. This article is protected by copyright. A birch sublingual allergy immunotherapy tablet reduces rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms when exposed to birch and oak and induces IgG4 to allergens from all trees in the birch homologous group
Treatment with the SQ tree SLIT ‐tablet, induced statistically significant reductions of rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms compared to placebo, in birch allergic subjects exposed to birch or oak pollen in an environmental exposure chamber. Statistically significant differences between 12 DU and placebo were reached after 16 weeks tr eatment and persisted until week 24 (end‐of‐trial). The reduction in rhinoconjunctivitis symptoms during oak pollen exposure, provides proof of concept for clinically relevant therapeutic cross‐reactivity between birch and other trees in the birch homologous group, which was also suppor...

Disentangling the heterogeneity of allergic respiratory diseases by latent class analysis reveals novel phenotypes
AbstractBackgroundRefined phenotyping of allergic diseases may unravel novel phenotypes. Conjunctivitis as an independent disorder has never been approached.AimTo identify distinct classes of allergic respiratory diseases using latent class analysis (LCA) and distinguish each class using classification and regression tree (CART) analysis.Methods728 adults from the Portuguese general population study ICAR had a structured medical interview combined with blood collection, skin prick tests, spirometry with bronchodilation, and exhaled nitric oxide. LCA was applied to 19 variables. The CART algorithm selected the most likely v...

Massive release of the histamine ‐degrading enzyme diamine oxidase during severe anaphylaxis in mastocytosis patients
ConclusionsDuring severe anaphylaxis in mastocytosis patients DAO is likely released from heparin ‐sensitive gastrointestinal storage sites. The measured concentrations can degrade histamine, but DAO activity is compromised compared to pregnancy samples. For accurate histamine measurements during anaphylaxis DAO inhibition is essential to inhibit further histamine degradation after blood withd rawal.
