Occupational and Environmental Exposure Influences the Inflammatory (Pro-and Anti-) Status in Benign Prostate Hyperplasia and Prostate Carcinoma Patients: A Retrospective Analysis
AbstractMultiple diseases and disorders are connected with occupational and environmental exposure risk. It is also well-established that chemicals and chemical mixtures have an influence on the immune cells of humans. This is an important field of research that has been pursued extensively in relation to autoimmune illnesses, allergy/asthma, and lung cancer, but Prostate Carcinoma has received rare reports. Chronic chemical exposure is known to produce inflammation, which is one of the most prominent characteristics of all malignancies. Changes in the ratio of pro-inflammatory to anti-inflammatory molecules are thought to...

Expression Levels of Glutathione S-Transferase and Cytochrome P450 Isoenzymes in Nasal Polyp Tissue
AbstractNasal polyps are benign sinonasal masses composed of eosinophils and extracellular edema. Pathogenesis of the polyp formation is unclear but several studies strongly suggest a correlation with infection, inflammation and allergy conditions. Our aim is to investigate the potential link between allergy and nasal polyp in tissue level. Nasal polyp group included 60 patients whose diagnosis was confirmed with biopsy and the control group included 38 healthy patients. Tissue sample of the control group was taken from inferior turbinate mucosa under local anesthesia and nasal polyp tissue was collected from functional en...

Clinico-demographic, radiological and immunological profile of allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis in a tertiary care institute of east India.
Conclusion: There was no significant association between lung function abnormalities and eosinophil count. ABPA-S was the most common finding among ABPA patients. High eosinophil count is associated with high incidence of bronchiectasis and hyper attenuated mucus (HAM) although severity of bronchiectasis is not directly related to higher peripheral eosinophil count. There may be some correlation between peripheral eosinophil count and total IgE but no significant correlation with aspergillus specific IgE.

Assessment of Co-Sensitization between Pollen and Food Allergen Sources among Bengali Population, West Bengal, India
Conclusion: The present study established that co-sensitivity between pollen and food allergen sources were predominant in allergic patients of West Bengal. The co-sensitization patterns among unrelated allergen sources may be due to possible expression of biologic cross-reactivity to similar allergens.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Specific food allergens associated with clinical sensitization among patients presenting to hospitals in hyderabad, india
Various international initiatives have aimed to estimate the prevalence, burden, and etiology of food-triggered disorders, including food allergy (FA). However, comparatively few efforts have been undertaken in India. A multicenter study was conducted in and around Hyderabad (South India) to identify predominant food allergens impacting the regional population presenting for food-related illness.

Why the U.S. Doesn ’t Have a Nasal Vaccine for COVID-19
The U.S. led the world in quickly developing COVID-19 vaccines—one of the few bright spots in the country’s otherwise criticized response. But while injectable vaccines are effective in protecting people from getting sick with COVID-19, they are less able to block infection. In order to put the pandemic behind us, the world will need a way to stop infections and spread of the virus. That’s where a different type of vaccine, one that works at the places where the virus gets into the body, will likely prove useful. Here, though, the U.S. is losing its edge. In September, India approved a nasal COVID-19 vacc...

Scientists race to test vaccines for Uganda ’s Ebola outbreak
A multipronged international effort has begun to pull out all the stops to launch trials of experimental Ebola vaccines in Uganda, which declared an outbreak of the deadly disease on 20 September. According to the most recent World Health Organization (WHO) update, Uganda has had 18 confirmed and 18 suspected cases of Ebola, including 23 deaths—an unusually high case fatality rate of 64%. A trial of a vaccine candidate that’s farthest along in development could launch before the end of next month. Proven vaccines exist for Zaire ebolavirus, which has led to a dozen outbreaks in the neighboring Democratic Republic ...

Identification of prominent airborne pollen in a city situated in foot-hills of Himalayas, Chandigarh, India
Environ Sci Pollut Res Int. 2022 Sep 29. doi: 10.1007/s11356-022-23050-4. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPollen allergy is considered one of the important critical thrust areas, as 20-30% of the world population suffers from allergic rhinitis. The increase in global surface temperature directly affects pollen physiological (e.g., pollen production) and morphological parameters and indirectly affects the distribution pattern, the allergenic potential of pollen, and plant species. Therefore, periodic sampling and pollen studies of a region have become necessary to assess the status of change in species and its morphological c...

Standard patch test results and clinical relevance: A cross-sectional study of 10-year retrospective experience
