Antiallergic activity of Skimmia anquetilia on ovalbumin-induced allergic rhinitis, dermatitis, paw oedema and mast cell degranulation
ConclusionThis study concludes that the essential oil of SA has better  promising results compared to extract for treating atopic dermatitis, allergic rhinitis, stabilising mast cell membranes, preventing entry of eosinophils into the lungs and maintaining skin, spleen and lung architecture. The authors suggest that further work is required to be done to isolate SA’ s active ingredients and assess their detailed mechanism of action.

Predicting the future: Early-life biomarkers of atopic dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic, heterogenous, inflammatory skin disease that typically starts in childhood and often persists into adulthood.1 AD affects up to 20% of children worldwide. Although AD in infants and young children can resolve, there is a well-recognized increased risk of sequential progression from AD to other atopic diseases, including food allergy (FA), allergic rhinitis, asthma, and rhinoconjunctivitis, a process referred to as the atopic march.2 The mechanisms underlying the development of AD and its subsequent progression to other atopic comorbidities, particularly FA, are not well understood and a...

Allergies Come Clean: The Role of Detergents in Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction
The objective of this review is to examine the role of detergents as a potential risk factor for developing allergic disease.Recent FindingsHerein, we identify key sources of human detergent exposure. We summarize the evidence suggesting a possible role for detergents and related chemicals in initiating epithelial barrier dysfunction and allergic inflammation. We primarily focus on experimental models of atopic dermatitis, asthma, and eosinophilic esophagitis, which show compelling associations between allergic disease and detergent exposure. Mechanistic studies suggest that detergents disrupt epithelial barrier integrity ...

The Impact of Air Pollution on Atopic Dermatitis
AbstractPurpose of ReviewAtopic dermatitis (AD) remains a dermatological disease that imposes a significant burden on society. Air pollution has previously been linked to both the onset and severity of atopic dermatitis. As air pollution remains a critical environmental factor impacting human health, this review seeks to provide an overview of the relationship between different air pollutants and AD.Recent FindingsAD can develop from multiple causes that can be broadly grouped into epidermal barrier dysfunction and immune dysregulation. Air pollution imposes significant health risks and includes a wide variety of pollutant...

Diagnosis and Management of Pediatric Chronic Hand Eczema: The PeDRA CACHES Survey
CONCLUSIONS: This is the first characterization of P-CHE among pediatric dermatologists in the United States and Canada. This assessment may prove useful in designing further investigations including prospective studies of P-CHE epidemiology, morphology, nomenclature, and management.PMID:37225932 | DOI:10.1007/s40272-023-00574-x
