Prevalence of atopic dermatitis in the adolescent population of Catalonia (Spain)
CONCLUSIONS: This is the first Spanish study reporting the overall diagnosed prevalence for a large-scale adolescent cohort (12-17 years old) from Catalonia. It provides new and robust evidence of AD's prevalence and related characteristics in this region.PMID:37422786 | DOI:10.15586/aei.v51i4.893

Corrigendum
With regard to the article in the May 2021 issue entitled “Chromatin interactions in differentiating keratinocytes reveal novel atopic dermatitis- and psoriasis-associated genes” (J Allergy Clin Immunol 2021;147:1742-52), the authors wish to change the order of the final 2 authors in the author listing, while noting that these authors continue to share last authorship equally. The correct order should be: Pelin Sahlén, Rapolas Spalinskas, Samina Asad, Kunal Das Mahapatra, Pontus Höjer, Anandashankar Anil, Jesper Eisfeldt, Ankit Srivastava, Pernilla Nikamo, Anaya Mukherjee, Kyu-Han Kim, Otto Bergman, Mona Ståhle, Eni...

Hair Dyes Sensitization and Cross-Reactions: Challenges and Solutions: A Systematic Review of Hair Dye Allergens' Prevalence
Dermatitis. 2023 Jun 23. doi: 10.1089/derm.2023.0019. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACT Widespread use of oxidative hair dyes during the past decades has raised questions on the potential allergy reactions and their management, as well as prevention measures for both professionals and consumers. Allergic contact dermatitis can be elicited by various hair dye-related allergens, though the main problem remains with p-phenylenediamine and related aromatic amines. If allergy is suspected, patch testing identifies the responsible hapten. Individuals sensitized to specific permanent hair dyes substances should avoid the exposure to...

Infants immunisations, their timing and the risk of allergic diseases (INITIAL): an observational prospective cohort study protocol
Introduction Vaccinations are considered to have a large impact on disease control, hence a multitude of vaccines in infancy is recommended. Retrospective studies suggest a possible relation between timing, kind or number of vaccines given in the first year of life and the subsequent incidence of allergic diseases. It must be clarified whether a causal relationship exists to ensure safety and reduce vaccine hesitancy. Methods and analysis Due to the high recommendation rate of vaccines, a long-term randomised controlled trial is not considered as ethically acceptable. Therefore, this study aims to observe prospectively th...

Aiming to IgE: Drug development in allergic diseases
Int Immunopharmacol. 2023 Jun 19;121:110495. doi: 10.1016/j.intimp.2023.110495. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe incidence of allergic disease significantly increases in recent decades, causing it become a major public health problem all over the world. The common allergic diseases such as allergic dermatitis, allergy rhinitis, allergic asthma and food allergy are mediated, at least in part, by immunoglobulin E (IgE), and so IgE acts as a central role in allergic diseases. IgE can interact with its high-affinity receptor (FcεRⅠ) which is primarily expressed on tissue-resident mast cells and circulating basophils, initi...
