Combination of RUNX1 inhibitor and gemcitabine mitigates chemo-resistance in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma by modulating BiP/PERK/eIF2 α-axis-mediated endoplasmic reticulum stress
CONCLUSIONS: This study identifies RUNX1 as a predictive biomarker for response to GEM-based chemotherapy. RUNX1 inhibition may represent an effective strategy for overcoming GEM resistance in PDAC cells.PMID:37697370 | PMC:PMC10494371 | DOI:10.1186/s13046-023-02814-x

Multi-omics data analysis reveals the biological implications of alternative splicing events in lung adenocarcinoma
J Bioinform Comput Biol. 2023 Sep 8:2350020. doi: 10.1142/S0219720023500208. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCancer is characterized by the dysregulation of alternative splicing (AS). However, the comprehensive regulatory mechanisms of AS in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) are poorly understood. Here, we displayed the AS landscape in LUAD based on the integrated analyses of LUAD's multi-omics data. We identified 13,995 AS events in 6309 genes as differentially expressed alternative splicing events (DEASEs) mainly covering protein-coding genes. These DEASEs were strongly linked to "cancer hallmarks", such as apoptosis, DNA repair,...

Potential association of HSPD1 with dysregulations in ribosome biogenesis and immune cell infiltration in lung adenocarcinoma: An integrated bioinformatic approach
CONCLUSIONS: HSPD1 may play a role in the regulation of ribosome biogenesis and B cell-mediated immunity in LUAD. It could serve as a predictive biomarker for prognosis and immunotherapy response in LUAD.PMID:37694354 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-220442

Identification of molecular biomarkers associated with non-small-cell lung carcinoma (NSCLC) using whole-exome sequencing
CONCLUSIONS: Our bioinformatics analysis identified KCNJ18, GPRIN2, TEKT4, HRNR, FOLR3, ESSRA, CTBP2, MPRIP, TBP, and FBXO6 may contribute to progression in NSCLC and could be used as new biomarkers for the treatment. The mechanism by which GPRIN2, KCNJ12, and TEKT4 contribute to tumorigenesis is unclear, but our results suggest they may play an important role in NSCLC and it is worth investigating in future.PMID:37694353 | DOI:10.3233/CBM-220211

Effects of Dichloromethane and N-Butanol Fractions of < em > Nigella sativa < /em > on ACHN and GP-293 Cell Line Morphology, Viability, and Apoptosis
CONCLUSION: Our findings demonstrated that these two fractions of N. sativa induce inhibitory effects on the ACHN cell line morphology and viability. These effects were lower than those induced by the total extract. In addition, the two fractions caused more marked effects in the renal cancer cell line compared with the GP-293 cell line.PMID:37694244 | PMC:PMC10492620 | DOI:10.4103/abr.abr_394_22

Identifying luteolin as a potential drug for treating lung adenocarcinoma with COVID-19 affection based on integration analysis of pharmacology and transcriptome
CONCLUSION: HSP90AA1 was a target gene for further designing effective drugs for LUAD patients. Luteolin was a potential drug for treating patients with both LUAD and COVID-19.PMID:37694790 | DOI:10.2174/0929867331666230908090326

The disappearance of gastric metastasis and liver metastasis in non-small cell lung adenocarcinoma is due to osimertinib
CONCLUSIONS: This is the first report to our knowledge of a patient who presented with gastric and hepatic metastases from lung cancer and achieved complete remission with osimertinib and local radiotherapy, with good quality of life, which also provides a basis for future clinical work and is of great significance.PMID:37695388 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05386-7
