Second primary malignancies in patients with lymphoma in Denmark after high-dose chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation: a population-based, retrospective cohort study
Lancet Haematol. 2023 Sep 6:S2352-3026(23)00212-0. doi: 10.1016/S2352-3026(23)00212-0. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTBACKGROUND: Second primary malignancies (SPMs) are known complications after chemotherapy, but the risk is not well characterised for patients with lymphoma treated with high-dose chemotherapy and autologous haematopoietic stem-cell transplantation (HSCT). We aimed to investigate the rate of SPMs in this population relative to matched control individuals from the general population.METHODS: In this retrospective, population-based cohort study, patients aged 18 years or older with an aggressive lymphoma who r...

Androgen deprivation therapy caused a drastic proliferation of B-cell lymphoma with IgG4-related disease in patients with prostate cancer: a case report
CONCLUSION: This case is the first report of clinical significance regarding the crucial role of estrogen and estrogen receptor β in malignant lymphoma in a patient with IgG4-related disease. Our report aims to raise awareness of the need to carefully select treatment options for prostate cancer patients with IgG4-related disease or lymphoma.PMID:37688628 | DOI:10.1007/s00432-023-05292-y

Conferone, a coumarin from < em > Ferula flabelliloba < /em > , induced toxic effects on adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma cells
CONCLUSION: Obtained findings indicated that conferone induced considerable cytotoxic effects on MT-2 cells in a time- and dose-dependent manner. In addition, accumulation of cells in the sub-G1 phase of the cell cycle was detected upon conferone administration. Moreover, conferone reduced the expression of CDK6, c-MYC, CFLIPL, and NF-κB (Rel-A) in MT-2 cells. Accordingly, conferone could be considered as a potent agent against ATL, although complementary investigations are required to define more precisely its mechanism of action.PMID:37688389 | DOI:10.1177/03946320231197592

The Impact of CD34 < sup > + < /sup > Cell Collection Yields for Autologous Transplant on Survival Outcomes in Multiple Myeloma
CONCLUSION: Although bortezomib is not considered stem-cell toxic, it may be associated with lower stem cell collection yields. Bortezomib's efficacy at induction may partially explain the improved outcomes, however, other factors may be involved, and are discussed. We can conclude that with our large cohort and long follow-up, high stem-cell mobilization does not appear to predict for a long-term survival advantage.PMID:37689547 | DOI:10.1016/j.clml.2023.07.014

Proliferation-promoting roles of linear and circular PVT1 are independent of their ability to bind miRNAs in B-cell lymphoma
Int J Biol Macromol. 2023 Sep 7:126744. doi: 10.1016/j.ijbiomac.2023.126744. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTPlasmacytoma Variant Translocation 1 (PVT1) is a long non-coding RNA located at 8q24.21 immediately downstream of MYC. Both the linear and circular PVT1 transcripts contribute to cancer pathogenesis by binding microRNAs. However, little is known about their roles in B-cell lymphoma. Here we studied their expression patterns, role in growth, and ability to bind miRNAs in B-cell lymphoma. Linear PVT1 transcripts were downregulated in B-cell cell lymphoma lines compared to germinal center B cells, while circPVT1 levels w...
