Patients experience of using colonoscopy as a diagnostic test after a positive FOBT/FIT: a systematic review of the quantitative literature
Conclusion This review highlighted that patient-reported experiences associated with colonoscopy were generally positive. To improve the colonoscopy experience, bowel screening centres should investigate means to: make bowel preparation more acceptable, make colonoscopy less painful and reduce post-colonoscopy symptoms.

Comparison of the efficacy and safety of third-line treatments for metastatic colorectal cancer: a systematic review and network meta-analysis
ConclusionTAS-102, fruquintinib, TAS-102 plus bevacizumab, the regorafenib standard dose regimen (regorafenib), and the regorafenib dose-escalation regimen (regorafenib 80+) all demonstrated improved OS and PFS compared to BSC in mCRC patients. However, TAS-102 plus bevacizumab may be the optimal choice for third-line treatment in mCRC patients.Systematic review registrationhttps://www.crd.york.ac.uk/prospero/display_record.php, CRD42023434929.

Effect of artificial intelligence –based computer-aided diagnosis on the screening outcomes of digital mammography: a matched cohort study
ConclusionsAI-CAD increases the specificity for radiologists without decreasing sensitivity as a supportive tool in the single reading of DM for breast cancer screening.Clinical relevance statementThis study shows that AI-CAD could improve the specificity of radiologists ’ DM interpretation in the single reading system without decreasing sensitivity, suggesting that it can benefit patients by reducing false positive and recall rates.Key Points• In this retrospective-matched cohort study (DM without AI-CAD vs DM with AI-CAD), radiologists showed higher specificity and lower AIR when AI-CAD was used to support decision-m...

Exosomal miRNAs as Next-generation Therapy Vehicles in Breast Cancer
Curr Gene Ther. 2023;23(5):330-342. doi: 10.2174/1566523223666230215103524.ABSTRACTThe second most pervasive cancer affecting the survival of women across the world is breast cancer. One of the biggest challenges in breast cancer treatment is the chemoresistance of cancer cells to various medications after some time. Therefore, highly specific blood-based biomarkers are required for early breast cancer diagnosis to overcome chemoresistance and improve patient survival. These days, exosomal miRNAs have attracted much attention as early diagnostic blood-based biomarkers because of their high stability, secretion from maligna...

Two curcumin analogs inhibited the function and protein expression of breast cancer resistance protein: < em > in vitro < /em > and < em > in vivo < /em > studies
Xenobiotica. 2023 Sep 20:1-32. doi: 10.1080/00498254.2023.2260886. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACT1. Two curcumin analogs, (1E,6E)-1,7-bis(3,5-diethyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)hepta-1,6-diene-3,5- dione (N17) and its prodrug ((1E,6E)-3,5-dioxohepta-1,6-diene-1,7-diyl)bis(2,6-diethyl-4,1- phenylene)bis(3-hydroxy-2-(hydroxymethyl)-2-methylpropanoate) (N17'), were evaluated as breast cancer resistance protein (BCRP) inhibitors.2. MDCKII-BCRP and MDCKII-WT were used to evaluate the modulation effects of N17 and N17' on BCRP and to explore the relevant mechanism. Sprague-Dawley rats were orally administered rosuvastatin (ROS), a probe su...

Analysis of Prognoses according to Breast MRI Results in Patients with Axillary Lymph Node Metastases from an Unknown Primary Origin
CONCLUSION: The prognoses of MR-negative patients with ACUPax who received ALND and WBRT followed by chemotherapy were as good as those of patients with MRI-detected primary breast cancers.PMID:37727923 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0181

Rechallenge with Anti-PD-1 Inhibitors in Patients with Recurrent Gynecologic Malignancies
CONCLUSION: These results suggest that responses to ICI rechallenge are not as intolerable as responses to previous ICI. Clinicians should carefully consider rechallenge with PD-1 inhibitors outside of clinical trials until there are sufficient data to routinely support this practice.PMID:37727917 | DOI:10.3349/ymj.2023.0063

Prevalence of women with breast implants in Sweden: a study based on the population-based mammography screening programme
CONCLUSION: The prevalence of breast implants in Swedish women is estimated to be around 4%. The population-based mammography screening programme in countries with a publicly funded welfare-type healthcare system and a clear documentation of mammography screening attendance, seems to be a feasible way to establish the prevalence of breast implants in the population. The large number of women with breast implants warrants further studies regarding the best diagnostic and treatment alternatives for this group. Submandibular suction lipectomy and single-hole inflator-free endoscopic thyroidectomy with a submental approach: a new surgical technique
Gland Surg. 2023 Jul 31;12(7):974-981. doi: 10.21037/gs-22-624. Epub 2023 Jun 30.ABSTRACTWe have successfully carried out single-hole inflator-free endoscopic thyroidectomy through a submental approach, which has the advantages of less trauma, fewer complications, and hidden incisions. However, for patients with submandibular fat accumulation, submental incisions are not easy to hide, which directly affects the cosmetic effect. We developed a new surgical strategy "submandibular suction lipectomy and single-hole inflator-free endoscopic thyroidectomy with a submental approach" for these patients. We initially used submandi...

Immune evasion of G-CSF and GM-CSF in lung cancer
Tuberc Respir Dis (Seoul). 2023 Sep 20. doi: 10.4046/trd.2023.0037. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTumor immune evasion is a complex process that involves various mechanisms, such as antigen recognition restriction, immune system suppression, and T cell exhaustion. The tumor microenvironment contains various immune cells involved in immune evasion. Recent studies have demonstrated that granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) and granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) induce immune evasion in lung cancer by modulating neutrophils and myeloid-derived suppressor cells. Here we describe the origin and f...

Comparison of Health-Related Quality of Life Changes in Prostate Cancer Patients Undergoing Laparoscopic versus Robotic-Assisted Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy: A Systematic review
CONCLUSION: Both robotic-assisted and laparoscopic radical prostatectomy are valid treatment options to achieve a good quality of life following surgery. The intermediate and long-term results in regard to QoL are comparable between the two procedures. RALRP might be superior to LRP in terms of immediate health-related quality of life, which might contribute to early recovery of urinary function.PMID:37727913 | DOI:10.22037/uj.v20i.7707
