New Research Provides Hope In The Search For A Respiratory Syncytial Virus Vaccine- Part III
While the search for a vaccine for respiratory syncytial virus has eluded scientists and vaccine manufacturers for decades, it looks as if there may be a vaccine in the foreseeable future, within the next few years.

Cancers, Vol. 14, Pages 4191: Cancerous Tumor Controlled Treatment Using Search Heuristic (GA)-Based Sliding Mode and Synergetic Controller
ad Fazal Ijaz Cancerous tumor cells divide uncontrollably, which results in either tumor or harm to the immune system of the body. Due to the destructive effects of chemotherapy, optimal medications are needed. Therefore, possible treatment methods should be controlled to maintain the constant/continuous dose for affecting the spreading of cancerous tumor cells. Rapid growth of cells is classified into primary and secondary types. In giving a proper response, the immune system plays an important role. This is considered a natural process while fighting against tumors. In recent days, achieving a better method to treat ...

Molecules, Vol. 27, Pages 7336: Homology Modeling and Molecular Dynamics-Driven Search for Natural Inhibitors That Universally Target Receptor-Binding Domain of Spike Glycoprotein in SARS-CoV-2 Variants
Julia Saloni The rapid spread of SARS-CoV-2 required immediate actions to control the transmission of the virus and minimize its impact on humanity. An extensive mutation rate of this viral genome contributes to the virus’ ability to quickly adapt to environmental changes, impacts transmissibility and antigenicity, and may facilitate immune escape. Therefore, it is of great interest for researchers working in vaccine development and drug design to consider the impact of mutations on virus-drug interactions. Here, we propose a multitarget drug discovery pipeline for identifying potential drug candidates w...

Effectiveness of the pneumococcal polysaccharide and conjugated vaccines in elderly and high-risk populations in preventing invasive pneumococcal disease: A systematic search and review of the literature
Conclusion: The results from this review indicate a reduction of IPD in elderly and high-risk populations vaccinated with PPV23 and PCV13. The protective effect may be lower in elderly individuals >80 years and in individuals with comorbidities. However, the literature is sparse and large-scale prospective studies are needed to evaluate the effectiveness of PPV23 and PCV13 vaccination in adults in protecting against IPD.

Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 1065: Intra-Host Co-Existing Strains of SARS-CoV-2 Reference Genome Uncovered by Exhaustive Computational Search
In this study, we present a computational method aimed at identifying co-existing intra-host strains of the virus from RNA-sequencing data of short reads that were used to assemble the original reference genome. Our method consisted of five key steps: extraction of relevant reads, error correction for the reads, identification of within-host diversity, phylogenetic study, and protein binding affinity analysis. Our study revealed that multiple strains of SARS-CoV-2 can coexist in both the viral sample used to produce the reference sequence and a wastewater sample from California. Additionally, our workflow demonstrated its ...

BNC-rSS, a bivalent subunit nanovaccine affords the cross-protection against Streptococcus agalactiae and Streptococcus iniae infection in tilapia
In this study, a multi-epitope subunit vaccine Sip-Srr (SS) was prepared based on the B-cell antigenic epitopes prediction and multiple sequence alignment analysis of Sip and Srr sequences. Furthermore, the BNC-rSS nanocarrier vaccine system was constructed by connecting the rSS protein with modified bacterial nanocellulose (BNCs) and characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy and Scanning Electron Microscope, the immersion immune effect against S. agalactiae and S. iniae infection was evaluated. The results showed that compared with the control group, BNC-rSS significantly enhanced serum antibody production,...

Utilizing Google trends to monitor coronavirus vaccine interest and hesitancies
CONCLUSION: Misinformation RSVs were highest after FDA authorization and have multiple repeated spikes after subsequent vaccine announcements. General information seeking terms peaked concurrently with increased vaccination uptake in the United States. Search interest has decreased with wider vaccine availability, despite many individuals in the United States remaining unvaccinated. GT can be used to monitor trends in public attitudes and misinformation regarding COVID-19 vaccines and further target education.PMID:35660035 | PMC:PMC9149202 | DOI:10.1016/j.vaccine.2022.05.070

IJERPH, Vol. 14, Pages 665: Coverage and Influencing Determinants of Influenza Vaccination in Elderly Patients in a Country with a Poor Vaccination Implementation
Conclusions: The influenza vaccination uptake in the elderly population in Poland is disturbingly low. Improved education strategies are needed to increase the uptake. Vaccinated respondents are more likely to plan on being vaccinated the following year. Future interventions related to maximizing vaccination coverage should be more tailored, focusing especially on older patients living in rural areas.

IJERPH, Vol. 16, Pages 265: Parental Knowledge about Meningococcal Disease and Vaccination Uptake among 0 –5 years Old Polish Children
IJERPH, Vol. 16, Pages 265: Parental Knowledge about Meningococcal Disease and Vaccination Uptake among 0–5 years Old Polish Children International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health doi: 10.3390/ijerph16020265 Authors: Marzena Drozd-Dąbrowska Katarzyna Topczewska Marcin Korzeń Anna Sałacka Maria Ganczak In Poland, in addition to mandatory, free of charge vaccines, listed in the national immunization schedule, numerous self-paid vaccinations are recommended, including meningococcal vaccination (MV). To assess MV uptake among ≤5-year-old children and to evaluate parental know...

School life and influenza immunization: A cross-sectional study on vaccination coverage and influencing determinants among Polish teachers.
CONCLUSIONS: Influenza vaccination coverage among Polish teachers is alarmingly low; vaccine receipt was associated with teacher attitudes and beliefs. Future interventions related to maximizing vaccination coverage in this group should take advantage of the involvement of family physicians and specifically focus on teachers who have never been vaccinated before. As knowledge about influenza positively influences vaccination decisions, education strategies should focus on reducing knowledge gaps to alter attitudes and increase uptake. Factors that impact on recruitment to vaccine trials in the context of a pandemic or epidemic: a qualitative evidence synthesis
CONCLUSIONS: This review identifies many of the factors that influence a person's decision to take part in a vaccine trial, and these reflect findings from reviews that examine trials more broadly. However, we also recognise some factors that become more important in connection with a vaccine trial in the context of a pandemic or epidemic. These factors include the potential stigma of taking part, the possible adverse effects of a vaccine, the added motivation for helping society, the role of community leaders in trial dissemination, and the level of trust placed in governments and companies developing vaccines. These spec...

Persistent Shoulder Pain After Vaccine Administration Is Associated with Common Incidental Pathology: A Systematic Review
CONCLUSION: The observation that persistent shoulder pain after vaccination overlaps with common shoulder pathology-both in large databases as well as in more detailed reports of specific patients as analyzed in this review-establishes a high probability of a coincidental rather than a causal association. In the absence of high-quality experimental evidence of vaccine-specific shoulder pathology, in our opinion, it seems safest and healthiest to assume that perceived shoulder injury related to vaccine administration (SIRVA) is due to misinterpretation of new symptoms from established pathology rather than a new, vaccine-sp...
