Shengui Sansheng San Ameliorates Cerebral Energy Deficiency via Citrate Cycle After Ischemic Stroke
Conclusion In summary, SSS extraction significantly ameliorates cerebral energy metabolism via boosting citrate cycle, which mainly embodies the enhancements of blood glucose concentration, glucose and lactate transportation and glucose utilization, as well as the regulations of relative enzymes activities in citrate cycle. These ameliorations ultimately resulted in numerous ATP yield after stroke, which improved neurological function and infarcted volume. Collectively, it suggests that SSS extraction has exerted advantageous effect in the treatment of cerebral ischemia. Ethics Statement All animal operations were accor...

Bibliometric Analysis of Ferroptosis in Stroke From 2013 to 2021
Conclusion: Further exploration of the mechanisms of crosstalk between ferroptosis and other programmed cell death may improve clinical applications and therapeutic effects against stroke. Scholars will also continue to pay attention to and be interested in the hot topic “ferroptosis in stroke”, to produce more exciting results and provide new insights into the bottleneck of stroke treatment.

Dabigatran Reversal with Idarucizumab Preceding Thrombolysis in an Octogenarian Patient with Chronic Kidney Disease and Acute Stroke: a Case Report.
CONCLUSION: Our case showed the effectiveness and safety of giving Idarucizumab followed by thrombolysis in Dabigatran-treated atrial fibrillation with ischemic stroke. Based on this case, the procedure can be performed in an elderly population with chronic kidney disease when administered close to the limit of threshold for thrombolysis. Enhanced white matter reorganization and activated brain glucose metabolism by enriched environment following ischemic stroke: Micro PET/CT and MRI study.
This study aimed to examine the effects of post-ischemic EE treatment on the brain remodeling using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and 18F-FDG positron emission tomography (PET). Male Sprague-Dawley rats were subjected to permanent middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) and housed in standard environment (SE) or EE for consecutive 30 days. Cognitive testing was performed using the Morris water maze. White matter structural modifications were detected by MRI combined with histological analysis. In addition, PET scanning with 18F-FDG as a molecular probe was conducted to detect brain energy metabolism. Our results showed ...

Brain Imaging Findings and Response to Intravenous Thrombolysis in Posterior Circulation Stroke
ConclusionsEarly ischaemic signs and pre-existing structural signs should be considered during the assessment of patients with PCIS eligible for IVT. Tissue hypoattenuation on initial CT scans correlates with an increased risk of death. Similarly to anterior circulation, atrophy on initial MRI may negatively predict good clinical outcome in posterior circulation.

The Neural Cell Adhesion Molecule-Derived (NCAM)-Peptide FG Loop (FGL) Mobilizes Endogenous Neural Stem Cells and Promotes Endogenous Regenerative Capacity after Stroke
Abstract The neural cell adhesion molecule (NCAM)-derived peptide FG loop (FGL) modulates synaptogenesis, neurogenesis, and stem cell proliferation, enhances cognitive capacities, and conveys neuroprotection after stroke. Here we investigated the effect of subcutaneously injected FGL on cellular compartments affected by degeneration and regeneration after stroke due to middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO), namely endogenous neural stem cells (NSC), oligodendrocytes, and microglia. In addition to immunohistochemistry, we used non-invasive positron emission tomography (PET) imaging with the tracer [18F]-fluoro-L-...

Alteplase for acute ischemic stroke after heparin reversal with protamine – a case report and review
ConclusionsGiven the lack of adverse events associated with IV alteplase in our patient, we advocate cautious evaluation for potential reversal of acutely administered anticoagulation to facilitate alteplase administration in severely disabled patients who are not eligible for mechanical intervention, and who would have been excluded from definitive AIS treatment. This article is protected by copyright. Simultaneous determination of trimethylamine N-oxide, choline, betaine by UPLC –MS/MS in human plasma: An application in acute stroke patients
Publication date: 15 April 2018 Source:Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, Volume 152 Author(s): Weibang Yu, Chuncao Xu, Guomin Li, Weipeng Hong, Ziyi Zhou, Canxing Xiao, Yuanqi Zhao, Yefeng Cai, Min Huang, Jing Jin Trimethylamine-N-oxide (TMAO) is derived from the gut microbiome and tissues metabolism of dietary choline and betaine. These molecules are closely related to the development of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. A rapid, sensitive and accurate method has been developed and validated for the simultaneous determination of trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO), choline and betaine in human plasm...

Fetal programming of atherosclerosis: may the barker hypothesis explain the susceptibility of a subset of patients to develop stroke or cardiac infarct?
Eur Rev Med Pharmacol Sci. 2021 Nov;25(21):6633-6641. doi: 10.26355/eurrev_202111_27107.ABSTRACTThe risk stratification of young adults between subjects who will develop a mild form of atherosclerosis and subjects who will undergo a severe disease remains inaccurate. In the eighties of the previous century, David JP Barker has demonstrated the relationship between fetal conditions and occurrence of pathologies in adulthood. In this paper, the multiple evidence that might explain the increased susceptibility to severe forms of atherosclerosis, including stroke and cardiac infarct, in subjects who underwent intrauterine grow...
