Vitamin D supplementation and risk of stroke: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
ConclusionOur study revealed that additional vitamin D supplementation did not reduce the risk of stroke. Therefore, additional RCTs of similar design should not be encouraged to assess any association between vitamin D supplementation and reduced stroke risk.

A systematic review examining the effect of vitamin D supplementation on functional outcomes post-stroke
CONCLUSIONS: The majority of studies showed a statistical improvement in motor function, mobility, and stroke impairment with vitamin D supplementation; however, the evidence did not support an improvement in activities of daily living with treatment. Microfluidic coagulation assay for monitoring anticoagulant therapy in acute stroke patients.
In conclusion, the SAW-CT assay is capable to monitor anticoagulant level and effect in patients receiving dabigatran, rivaroxaban and the VKA phenprocoumon. It has a limited sensitivity for apixaban-detection. If specific SAW-CT results were used as cut-offs, SAW-CT yields high diagnostic accuracy to exclude relevant rivaroxaban and dabigatran concentrations in stroke-patients. Risk of major bleeding and stroke associated with the use of VKAs, NOACs and aspirin in patients with atrial fibrillation: a cohort study
ConclusionsNOACs were associated with a higher risk on gastrointestinal bleeding, particularly in women. The use of NOACs in patients who are vulnerable for this type of bleeding should be carefully considered. NOACs and VKAs are equally effective in preventing stroke. Aspirin was not effective in the prevention of stroke in AF.
