Targeting Myeloperoxidase (MPO) Mediated Oxidative Stress and Inflammation for Reducing Brain Ischemia Injury: Potential Application of Natural Compounds
This article discusses the important roles of MPO in mediating oxidative stress and neuroinflammation during cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury and reviews the current understanding of the underlying mechanisms. Furthermore, we summarize the active compounds from medicinal herbs with potential as MPO inhibitors for anti-oxidative stress and anti-inflammation to attenuate cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury, and as adjunct therapeutic agents for extending the window of thrombolytic treatment. We highlight that targeting MPO could be a promising strategy for alleviating ischemic brain injury, which merits further translational study.

Conclusion: Education on hypertension should be intensified, and emphasis should be laid on regular exercised and strict dietary restrictions that ensure reduction in hypertension risk. Evidence Base of Clinical Studies on Qi Gong: A Bibliometric Analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Qigong research publications have been increasing gradually. Reports on study types, participants, Qigong Intervention, and outcomes are diverse and inconsistent. There is an urgent need to develop a set of reporting standards for various interventions of Qigong. Further trials of high methodological quality with sufficient sample size and real world studies are needed to verify the effects of Qigong in health and disease management. Discovery of Herbal Pairs Containing Gastrodia elata Based on Data Mining and the Delphi Expert Questionnaire and Their Potential Effects on Stroke through Network Pharmacology.
Conclusion: The herbal pairs of TM-CX and TM-JH obtained from data mining and the expert investigation were found to have effects of preventing and treating stroke through network pharmacology. This could be a viable approach to uncover hidden knowledge about TCM formulae and to discover herbal combinations with clinical and medicinal value based on data mining and questionnaires. Icariside II, a PDE5 Inhibitor, Suppresses Oxygen-Glucose Deprivation/Reperfusion-Induced Primary Hippocampal Neuronal Death Through Activating the PKG/CREB/BDNF/TrkB Signaling Pathway
ConclusionsICS II significantly rescues OGD/R-induced hippocampal neuronal injury. The mechanism is, at least partly, due to inhibition of PDE5 and activation of PKG/CREB/BDNF/TrkB signaling pathway. Hence it is thought that ICS II might be a potential naturally PDE5 inhibitor to combat cerebral I/R injury.

Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials of Liangxue Tongyu Formula on Patients With Acute Intracerebral Hemorrhage
ConclusionBased on current evidence, we concluded that the combined therapy had some benefits in treating acute intracerebral hemorrhage. However, considering the potential biases and limitations of our study, additional large, high-quality RCTs are required in the future to confirm or refute the effects of LFTYF combined with WCM in acute stroke.

ConclusionCBS contains analogous types and amounts of constituents and exerts approximate therapeutic effects compared to the NCB, thus the CBS might be used as the sustainable substitute of NCB. Furthermore, configuration and concentration of bile acids and bilirubin in C. bovis are responsible for the difference of pharmacological effects in four types C. bovis. Potential herb-drug interactions in community-dwelling older adults in China: the Shanghai Aging Study.
CONCLUSION: 43.3% of community-dwelling older adults who used any combination of drug-herb or herb-herb was exposed to pHDIs, and more than half of pHDIs were related to herbs with anticoagulant/antiplatelet properties.
