Antiphospholipid Syndrome Diagnosed as a Result of the Occurrence of an Ischemic Stroke After a Successful Catheter Ablation of Atrial Fibrillation and Continuous Direct Oral Anticoagulants
We report a case of an ischemic stroke after a successful catheter ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) and continuous oral anticoagulation therapy with direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), which was the trigger for diagnosing antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). A 68-year-old woman underwent catheter ablation of persistent AF and continued oral anticoagulation with edoxaban at a dose of 30 mg once daily after the ablation procedure. An asymptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage was detected by brain computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging one month post-ablation. Dabigatran Reversal with Idarucizumab Preceding Thrombolysis in an Octogenarian Patient with Chronic Kidney Disease and Acute Stroke: a Case Report.
CONCLUSION: Our case showed the effectiveness and safety of giving Idarucizumab followed by thrombolysis in Dabigatran-treated atrial fibrillation with ischemic stroke. Based on this case, the procedure can be performed in an elderly population with chronic kidney disease when administered close to the limit of threshold for thrombolysis. Successful intravenous thrombolysis for ischemic stroke after reversal of dabigatran anticoagulation with idarucizumab: a case report
ConclusionsOur case report adds to the evidence that idarucizumab administration is safe in the setting of patients with atrial fibrillation treated with dabigatran who develop acute ischemic stroke requiring thrombolysis.

The role of delayed head CT in evaluation of elderly blunt head trauma victims taking antithrombotic therapy
ConclusionsD-CTH in elderly trauma patients taking antithrombotic agents shows no statistically significant or clinical benefit for diagnosing delayed intracranial hemorrhage after minor head injury. In those with delayed imaging showing new ICH, management was not significantly altered. Not enough data were available to predict which patients would develop D-ICH, even if asymptomatic.

Imaging of Contrast Medium Extravasation in Anticoagulation-Associated Intracerebral Hemorrhage With Dual-Energy Computed Tomography Basic Sciences
Conclusions— Dual-energy computed tomography allows quantifying CE, as a marker of ongoing bleeding, in a model of anticoagulation-associated ICH. Dabigatran induces less CE in ICH than warfarin and consequently reduces risks of hematoma expansion. This constitutes a potential safety advantage of dabigatran over warfarin. Nevertheless, in case of warfarin anticoagulation, prothrombin complex concentrates reduce this side effect.
