Stroke units in Italy: engaging the public in optimizing existing resources
ConclusionsThis is the first European study that explored public knowledge about t‐PA treatment and SUs. Italian adults proved insufficiently educated about SUs and t‐PA; there is no higher awareness in areas with a greater supply of stroke services. This might partially explain the underuse of Italian SUs.

Stroke management during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic: experience from three regions of the north east of Italy (Veneto, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Trentino-Alto-Adige)
ConclusionsOur study confirmed a decrease in admission rate of stroke patients in a large area of northern Italy during the lockdown period, especially during the first dramatic phase. Overall, there was no decrease in thrombolysis rate, confirming an effect of emergency care system for stroke patients. Instead, the significant decrease in thrombectomy rate during lockdown addresses some considerations of local and regional stroke networks during COVID-19 pandemic evolution.

Risk models to predict late-onset seizures after stroke: A systematic review
CONCLUSION: The SeLECT model was the only model developed in line with proposed guidelines for appropriate model development. The model, which was externally validated in a very similar and homogeneous population, may need to be tested in a more racially/ethnic diverse and younger population; testing the SeLECT model, accounting for overall brain health is likely to improve the identification of high-risk patients for late post stroke seizures.PMID:34029995 | DOI:10.1016/j.yebeh.2021.108003

Design and implementation of a Stroke Rehabilitation Registry for the systematic assessment of processes and outcomes and the development of data-driven prediction models: The STRATEGY study protocol
ConclusionsThis study will test the feasibility of a stroke rehabilitation registry in the Italian health context and provide a systematic assessment of processes and outcomes for quality assessment and benchmarking. Management of acute ischemic stroke, thrombolysis rate, and predictors of clinical outcome
Conclusionsi.v. thrombolysis and mechanical thrombectomy rate was higher than that of previous reports. Minor stroke or stroke in rapid improvement was a major reason for exclusion from thrombolysis of eligible patients. Higher NIHSS proved an independent predictor of unfavorable clinical outcome and death. Strategies to avoid in-hospital delays need to be enforced.
