A Consensus by the Italian Society of Dermatology and Venereology (SIDeMaST), the Italian Association of Hospital Dermatologists and Public Health (ADOI), the Italian Association of Hospital and Territorial Allergists and Immunologists (AAIITO), the Italian Society of Allergy, Asthma and Clinical Immunology (SIAAIC), the Italian Society of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology (SIAIP), the Italian Society of Allergological, Occupational and Environmental Dermatology (SIDAPA), and the Italian Society of Pediatric Dermatology (SIDerP).
Authors: Calzavara-Pinton P, Belloni Fortina A, Bonamonte D, Marseglia GL, Miraglia Del Giudice M, Musarra A, Nettis E, Neri I, Patruno C, Stingeni L, Peris K, RADAR Group Abstract Atopic dermatitis (AD) is a chronic inflammatory disease with increasing global incidence, which has a multifactorial pathogenesis and a variable expressivity. Clinical features of AD are different in adults compared to children, but it is well recognized the substantial impact of the disease on patients' quality of life at any age. Indeed, little is known about AD in adolescence, a period of life generally associated with high psycholog...

Molecular Recognition Profiles and Clinical Patterns of PR-10 Sensitization in a Birch-Free Mediterranean Area
Background: The order Fagales represents an important cause of tree-pollen allergy in northern countries. We investigated the IgE recognition profiles, mutual relationships, and association with clinical symptoms of a panel of allergens belonging to the PR-10 family, the main proteins responsible for Fagales allergy (Act d 8, Aln g 1, Api g 1, Ara h 8, Bet v 1, Cor a 1.0101, Cor a 1.0401, Gly m 4, Mal d 1, and Pru p 1).Methods: A total of 526 PR-10-reactive subjects living in central and southern Italy were studied by ImmunoCAP-ISAC-112 microarray analysis. Results: Overall, Bet v 1 reactivity was the most commonly (74%) ob...

P429 Aria and gina implementation in a universalistic health system
Studies of the effects of guidelines in everyday practice are scarce. In a universalistic, government-lead system, as the Italian, the huge “allergy demand” produces a pressure on allergy services whose indicator is the lengthening of the waiting lists (WL). We used ARIA and GINA guidelines in an organizational intervention to reduce WL of children with respiratory allergy.

Susceptibility to allergy in adoptive children: a cross-sectional study at “Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital”
ConclusionsChildren without medical records or with a past medical history suggestive of atopy should perform a thorough allergy evaluation at the time of adoption. Our study offers also a glimpse at the vaccination status and immune-allergic profiles of recent migrant children in Italy.

Retrospective definition of reaction risk in Italian children with peanut, hazelnut and walnut allergy through component-resolved diagnosis.
CONCLUSIONS: Our data show that the use of CRD in patients with allergy to peanut, hazelnut and walnut could allow for greater accuracy in retrospectively defining the risk of anaphylactic reaction to such foods. PMID: 30017213 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Hymenoptera Venom Allergy: Management of children and adults in clinical practice.
This report on the management of children and adults allergic to Hymenoptera venom was drawn up by a panel of Italian experts. The main objective of this consensus is to review the scientific evidences related to diagnosis, therapy and management of patients allergic to Hymenoptera venom and is aimed to improve the knowledge about this disease and promote good clinical practices. Practical suggestions for a correct diagnosis, prescription of emergency therapy and immunotherapy, as well as strategies for taking care of patients´ management are included. The Severe Asthma Network in Italy (SANI): findings and perspectives
ConclusionsThis study revealed a high frequency of relevant comorbidities and that a substantial proportion of patients have a late-onset asthma; all these features define specific different disease phenotypes. Severe asthma complexity and comorbidities require multidisciplinary approaches, led by specifically trained Pulmonologists and Allergists.

The Characteristics of Severe Chronic Upper-Airway Disease (SCUAD) in Patients with Allergic Rhinitis: A Real-Life Multicenter Cross-Sectional Italian Study
Conclusions: The SCUAD population seems not to have a specific phenotype; there is a greater presence of SCUAD in polysensibilized patients, perhaps a sign of greater inflammation.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

Atopic dermatitis phenotypes in preschool and school-age children: a latent class analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: The detection of different AD phenotypes suggests the importance of a stratified approach to the management of this complex disease and the need of further studies to predict AD course and to develop more efficient therapeutic strategies. Donkey ’s Milk in the Management of Children with Cow’s Milk protein allergy: nutritional and hygienic aspects
ConclusionsIn conclusion, DM resulted safe in term of health and hygiene risks and nutritionally adequate: no negative impact on the normal growth rate of children was assessed. Therefore, it may be a suitable alternative for the management of IgE mediated CMA and FPIES, also in the first 6  months of life, if adequately supplemented.

Consensus statement of the Italian society of pediatric allergy and immunology for the pragmatic management of children and adolescents with allergic or immunological diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic
AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic has surprised the entire population. The world has had to face an unprecedented pandemic. Only, Spanish flu had similar disastrous consequences. As a result, drastic measures (lockdown) have been adopted worldwide. Healthcare service has been overwhelmed by the extraordinary influx of patients, often requiring high intensity of care. Mortality has been associated with severe comorbidities, including chronic diseases. Patients with frailty were, therefore, the victim of the SARS-COV-2 infection. Allergy and asthma are the most prevalent chronic disorders in children and adolescents, so they nee...

Evaluation and predictive value of IgE responses toward a comprehensive panel of house dust mite allergens using a new multiplex assay: a real-life experience on an Italian population
Conclusions. This study confirms that the assessment of IgE to a comprehensive panel of HDM allergens defines different serological reactivity profiles that seem associated with different clinical presentations.PMID:33728837 | DOI:10.23822/EurAnnACI.1764-1489.195
