Human Ascariasis: An Updated Review.
CONCLUSION: The average cure rate with anthelminthic treatment is over 95%. Unfortunately, most treated patients in endemic areas become re-infected within months. Health education, personal hygiene, improved sanitary conditions, proper disposal of human excreta, and discontinuing the use of human fecal matter as a fertilizer are effective long-term preventive measures. Targeting deworming treatment and mass anthelminthic treatment should be considered in regions where A. lumbricoides is prevalent. PMID: 32628606 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Redefining Pregnancy-Induced Rhinitis.
CONCLUSIONS: PIR is a common clinical entity with a wide range of symptoms with a direct impact on the quality of life in pregnancy. We propose a new definition of pregnancy-induced rhinitis. PMID: 32903019 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Does maternal diet during pregnancy influence clinical and laboratory characteristics of infantile-onset atopic dermatitis?
Conclusions. Our preliminary findings suggest that maternal egg intake during pregnancy might be a factor influencing laboratory markers of atopy in ofsprings. Prospective cohort studies are needed to confirm and clarify this relationship. PMID: 32914946 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Exposomal Research in the Context of Birth Cohorts - What have they taught us?
CONCLUSION: Birth cohort studies with an exposomic approach improve our understanding of the origin of childhood diseases by examining a complex network of environmental exposures during pregnancy and years beyond birth. International collaboration is required to develop large birth cohorts for better and more extensive assessment of exposome with standardized protocols and new statistical frameworks. Prenatal PM2.5 exposure/vitamin D- associated early persistent atopic dermatitis via placental methylation.
CONCLUSION: Higher PM2.5 during the first trimester of pregnancy and low CB vitamin D affected early onset persistent AD, and the most sensitive window was weeks 6-7 of gestation. Placental DNA methylation mediated this effect. PMID: 32971247 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A055 expanding penicillin allergy evaluation for prenatal patients
American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) guidelines recommend penicillin allergy (PA) evaluation for pregnant patients with documented PAs. At our institution, prenatal patients were not receiving PA evaluations.

Effect of Different Anesthetic Techniques on Cytokine Gene Expression in Patients who Underwent Elective Cesarean Section.
This study was designed to compare the modulation of genes whose expression level is indicative of the immune system following exposure to GA and SA. The present study was performed on 40 women who were scheduled for elective CS receiving GA or SA. The expression levels of the relative mRNA of Interleukin (IL)-4, IL-6, IL-10, IL-17, Interferon (IFN)-γ, and tumor growth factor (TGF)-β before anesthesia (T0) and 24 hours post-anesthesia (T1) were analyzed by real-time polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) technique.  Twenty-four hours post-anesthesia, the expression levels of IL-10, IL-17, and IFN-γ genes were decreased whi...

P175 reducing antibiotic exposure during penicillin allergy evaluations in pregnancy
Evaluation of pregnant women carrying a penicillin allergy label may reduce risk for adverse events associated with the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics and improve antibiotic stewardship. However, administration of antibiotics during pregnancy may increase post-partum infantile morbidity.

Obstetric Penicillin Allergy Evaluations
Group B streptococcal (GBS) colonization is associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. Penicillins are first-line therapy for peripartum prophylaxis in colonized women, making delabeling of PCN allergy in this population particularly important.

A Randomized Trial of Penicillin Skin Testing Versus 2-Step Direct Challenge for Penicillin Allergy During Pregnancy
Penicillins are first-line therapy for peripartum prophylaxis in Group B streptococcal-colonized women, making delabeling of PCN allergy in this population particularly important. There is scant data regarding the safety of direct challenges in penicillin-allergic pregnant women.
