Conclusion: The present study suggests that lesion patterns observed from DWI of patients with PFO and SIAD might provide clues to the etiology of infarcts. Single lesions (cortical or subcortical) might be a typical feature of PFO associated strokes, while multiple lesions in one vascular territory might be a specific feature of SIAD associated strokes. ConclusionsThere were no gender differences in long‐term mortality after stroke related to AF. Men were significantly more often prescribed anticoagulants before stroke, a finding that indicates the need for further studies.

ConclusionHistory of prior ischemic stroke in patients with acute ischemic stroke was associated with the burden of risk factors, atherosclerosis, and atrial fibrillation compared to first‐ever ischemic stroke. This has important implications for secondary preventive treatment.

National registry‐based case–control study: comorbidity and stroke in young adults
ConclusionsIn addition to vascular risk factors, comorbidity (represented by ICD‐10 chapters) was associated with increased risk of stroke in young individuals. The risk of stroke was further increased with the number of diagnosed ICD‐10 chapters.

Very long-term mortality after ischemic stroke: : predictors of cardiovascular death.
This study shows that age, male gender, stroke severity, hemorrhagic stroke, diabetes, ischemic heart disease, and right hemispheric stroke are predictors associated with increased risk of long-term cardiovascular mortality.
