Clinical Characteristics of Patients with Arrhythmias of the Idiopathic Outflow Tract Ventricular: Age, Gender, Comorbidities, Laboratory Test Results, and Echocardiographic Parameters
CONCLUSIONS: The outflow tract served as the major original site of IVAs, and significant differences existed between participants in the LVOT and RVOT groups in age; gender; comorbidities; results of laboratory examinations, including red-blood-cell counts, hemoglobin, creatinine, and GGT; and echocardiographic parameters, including LVEF%, LAD, LVEDD, IVS, and LVPWT.PMID:35687704

Very long ‐term prognosis in patients with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy: a longitudinal study with a period of 20 years
ConclusionsIn our cohort of patients, HCM-related mortality was relatively favourable. However, approximately half of the patients suffered from HCM-related adverse events during the follow-up period of 20  years. It is important for HCM patients to be carefully followed up over the long-term because HCM is a lifelong disease.

Percutaneous Transvalvular Microaxial Flow Pump Support in Cardiology
Circulation. 2022 Apr 19;145(16):1254-1284. doi: 10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.121.058229. Epub 2022 Apr 18.ABSTRACTThe Impella device (Impella, Abiomed, Danvers, MA) is a percutaneous transvalvular microaxial flow pump that is currently used for (1) cardiogenic shock, (2) left ventricular unloading (combination of venoarterial extracorporeal membrane oxygenation and Impella concept), (3) high-risk percutaneous coronary interventions, (4) ablation of ventricular tachycardia, and (5) treatment of right ventricular failure. Impella-assisted forward blood flow increased mean arterial pressure and cardiac output, peripheral tissue pe...

Leukocyte and its Subtypes as Predictors of Short-Term Outcome in Cardiogenic Shock Complicating Acute Myocardial Infarction: A Cohort Study
Background: Patients with cardiogenic shock (CS) complicating acute myocardial infarction (AMI) are at high risk of death. Inflammation is involved in both CS and AMI, and our present study aimed to investigate the changes of leukocyte and its subtypes as well as their prognostic value in patients with CS complicating AMI. Methods: Data of 217 consecutive patients with CS complicating AMI were analyzed. The primary endpoint was 30-day all-cause mortality. The secondary endpoint was the composite events of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE) including 30-day all-cause mortality, ventricular tachycardia/ven...

Impact of obesity on acute complications of catheter ablation for cardiac arrhythmia
ConclusionIn this study, obesity did not have a significant impact on the incidence of periprocedural complications after CA for cardiac arrhythmia.

Temporal Trends in Outcomes of ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction Patients With Heart Failure and Diabetes
ConclusionWhile hospitalizations for STEMI in patients with diabetes and HFpEF followed an upward trend, we observed a temporal decrease in those with HFrEF. Mortality was unchanged in both HF groups despite the temporal increase in risk factors. Nevertheless, HFpEF patients had lower in-hospital mortality and cardiovascular events, except for AF.

GSE195617 Neuronal and cardiac toxicity of pharmacological compounds identified through transcriptomic analysis of human pluripotent stem cell-derived embryoid bodies
In this study, we used human induced pluripotent stem cell (hiPSC)-derived embryoid bodies (EB) as an in vitro model to investigate the embryotoxic effects of a carefully selected set of pharmacological compounds. Morphology, viability, and differentiation potential were investigated after exposing EBs to folic acid, all-trans-retinoic acid, dexamethasone, and valproic acid for 15 days. The results showed that the compounds differentially repressed cell growth, compromised morphology, and triggered apoptosis in the EBs. Further, transcriptomics was employed to compare subtle temporal changes between treated and untreated c...

Efficiency and safety of ablation procedure for the treatment of atrial fibrillation in valve surgery: A PRISMA-compliant cumulative systematic review and meta-analysis
Background: Atrial fibrillation is the main complication of patients who suffer from valvular heart disease (VHD), which may lead to an increased susceptibility to ventricular tachycardia, atrial dysfunction, heart failure, and stroke. Therefore, seeking a safe and effective therapy is crucial in prolonging the lives of patients with VHD and improving their quality of life. Methods: Our target database included PubMed, Web of Science, Embase, and Cochrane Library, from which published articles were retrieved from inception to June 2020. We retrieved all randomized controlled trials (RCTs) that compared patients ...

Impact of Arrhythmia in Hospital Mortality in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients: A Retrospective Cohort Study in Northern Mexico
Stroke remains one of the leading causes of death globally. 1 In Mexico, it represents the 6th cause of death2 and contributes with 688.19 DALYs per 100,000 people,3 constituting a major cause of burden of disease in the country. Heart rhythm dysfunctions following acute ischemic strokes (AIS) have been previously reported,4 –9 and it is expected that 25-30% of patients will be diagnosed with any type of arrhythmia after stroke.6,9 Kallmünze et al. reported the incidence of several post-stroke arrhythmias, such as atrial fibrillation (AF), focal atrial tachycardia, undetermined supraventricular tachycardia, ventricu la...
