Dynamic Changes in High‐Sensitivity Cardiac Troponin I Are Associated with Dynamic Changes in Sum Absolute QRST Integral on Surface Electrocardiogram in Acute Decompensated Heart Failure
ConclusionPatient‐specific time‐varying changes in the surface ECG scalar measure of global electrical heterogeneity, as measured by SAI QRST, and in myocardial injury as measured by hsTnI, are independently and directly associated with each other, likely reflecting a common underlying mechanism.

Nonspecific ST-T changes associated with unsatisfactory blood pressure control among adults with hypertension in China: Evidence from the CSPTT study
Abstract: Nonspecific ST-segment and T-wave (ST-T) changes represent one of the most prevalent electrocardiographic abnormalities in hypertensive patients. However, a limited number of studies have investigated the association between nonspecific ST-T changes and unsatisfactory blood pressure (BP) control in adults with hypertension. The study population comprised 15,038 hypertensive patients, who were selected from 20,702 participants in the China Stroke Primary Prevention Trial. The subjects were examined with electrocardiogram test at the initial visit in order to monitor baseline heart activity. According to the resul...

Abstract 155: Prevalence and Clinical Correlates of Left Ventricular Hypertrophy by Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell Electrocardiogram Voltage Criteria in Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement Patients Session Title: Poster Session II
Conclusion: The presence of LVH by Sokolow-Lyon and Cornell ECG voltage criteria poorly correlates with the presence of LVH and critical aortic stenosis in TAVR patients. Women are more likely to have voltage criteria for LVH. Therefore, ECG may not be a suitable method of screening patients with severe aortic stenosis for LVH, especially in men.

Cardiac imaging in patients with arterial hypertension.
Authors: Antonini-Canterin F, Leiballi E, Martinis F, Pavan D Abstract Hypertension is considered the major modifiable risk factor for premature cardiovascular disease, being more common than other important risk factors as cigarette smoking, dyslipidemia, or diabetes [1]. In older patients, systolic pressure and pulse pressure are more powerful determinants of cardiovascular events than diastolic pressure [2]. Importantly, the cardiovascular risk associated with hypertension is significantly affected by the presence or absence of other major risk factors [3]. Among imaging features, left ventricular hypertrophy (L...

Effect of Intensive Blood Pressure Lowering on Left Ventricular Hypertrophy in Patients with Hypertension: The Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention (SPRINT) Trial.
Conclusions -Among patients with hypertension but no diabetes, intensive BP lowering (target systolic BP<120 mmHg), compared with standard BP lowering (target systolic BP<140 mmHg), resulted in lower rates of developing new LVH in those without LVH, and higher rates of regression of LVH in those with existing LVH. This favorable effect on LVH did not explain most of the reduction in CVD events associated with intensive BP lowering in the SPRINT trial. Review of screening studies for atrial fibrillation in rural populations of 11 countries.
Abstract Atrial fibrillation (AF) is a common cardiac arrhythmia, and pathological burden can be influenced by environmental factors. The rural environment may influence the burden of AF, although no systematic review studies have been conducted to address this issue. We performed a systematic review of AF screening studies conducted in rural global populations to determine the burden, risk factors, and screening methods surrounding AF in these settings. Out of the 1792 articles gathered from a keyword search of medical databases and reference lists, 18 publications from 11 countries were included in our analysis....

Abstract P351: Cornell Product in Electrocardiogram is More Strongly Related to LV Regional Wall Motion Than Sokolow-Lyon Voltage Session Title: Cardiac Hypertrophy and Dysfunction and Coronary Artery Disease and Hypertension
Backgrounds: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) evaluated by Cornell product in electrocardiogram predicted future stroke events greater than LVH by Sokolow-Lyon voltage. Therefore, we evaluated whether Cornell product was related to regional myocardial wall motion greater than Sokolow-Lyon voltage. Methods: We enrolled 288 hypertensive patients who were performed echocardiography for evaluating target organ damage. Cornell product was calculated as follows; R in aVL lead + S in V3 lead (0.6 mV added in female)хQRS duration; Sokolow-Lyon voltage, R in V5 lead + S in lead V1. We evaluated left ventricular mass index (LVMI),...

Worsening atrioventricular conduction after hospital discharge in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary percutaneous coronary intervention: the HORIZONS-AMI trial
Conclusion: Progression of AVC system disease in patients with STEMI treated with primary PCI is uncommon, occurs primarily in the setting of anterior myocardial infarction, and portends a high risk for death and major adverse cardiac events.

ST Elevations in the Setting of Hyperkalemia
A woman in her 50s with a history of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, neuropathy, smoking, asthma, and previous stroke presented with altered mental status and respiratory distress necessitating intubation in the field. An electrocardiogram (ECG) was recorded on presentation (Figure 1). On arrival, she was found to have 1 episode of nonsustained ventricular tachycardia but otherwise remained in normal sinus rhythm. Home medications included lisinopril, amitriptyline hydrochloride, and insulin. On physical examination, she was nonresponsive, with blood pressure of 113/70 mm Hg and pulse of 59 beats per minute with 10...

Hypertension in a resource ‐limited setting: Is it associated with end organ damage in older adults in rural Tanzania?
Few data from sub‐Saharan Africa exist on the effects of hypertension on the organs of the human body. We aimed to establish the prevalence of hypertensive end organ damage (EOD) in an elderly cohort of Tanzanians. The population aged 70 years and over of 2 villages in northern Tanzania (n = 246), had blood pressure (BP) data available from 2010 and 2013, and underwent in‐depth follow‐up for markers of hypertensive EOD in 2016. Assessment included ankle‐brachial pressure index, lying‐standing BP, electrocardiogram, and mid‐stream urine dip. Sustained hypertension (those with hypertension at all 3 assessments...
