Asciminib, a Specific Allosteric BCR-ABL1 Inhibitor, in Patients with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Carrying the T315I Mutation in a Phase 1 Trial
We report results from the largest cohort: pts with confirmed T315I mut at screening (tested locally by Sanger sequencing) and treated with asciminib 200 mg BID, which showed the most robust efficacy (data cutoff: April 30, 2018).At the data cutoff, treatment was ongoing in 23/24 pts (95.8%) (Table); 1 pt (4.2%) had ended treatment. Median duration of follow-up and asciminib exposure were both 28.5 wk (range, 0.1-74.7 wk). Most pts had received multiple prior TKIs, and PON was the most recent TKI for 12/24 (50.0%). Pts who were PON naive had underlying conditions, such as CV risk factors. Eight of 24 pts achieved MMR by 24...

Central hemodynamic parameters to predict cardiovascular outcomes and mortality among the elderly: protocol for a systematic review.
CONCLUSIONS: Through this systematic review, we intend to summarize evidence that supports the use of central hemodynamic parameters for central blood pressure to diagnose and perform prognostics on arterial hypertension in elderly patients within clinical practice and predict future cardiovascular events in this population. Pulmonary artery elastic properties after balloon pulmonary angioplasty in patients with inoperable chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension.
ConclusionsBPA improved total CPa in proportion to a decrease in PVR despite no improvement in local elastic properties of the treated PA segments.

A retrospective study of arterial stiffness and subsequent clinical outcomes in cancer patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Conclusion: Atherosclerosis is advanced and accelerated in patients with malignancy, and these patients had significantly higher rates of adverse cardiovascular events, and their risk might be stratified by ABI and baPWV. A Singular Manifestation of Contrast-induced Encephalopathy Following Coronary Angiography
We report a 71-year-old woman with a past medical history of hypertension, type two diabetes and no history of renal disease. She was admitted to our cardiology department with symptoms of recurrent angina. She had a history of unstable angina two years ago and had undergone a percutaneous coronary intervention without incident. Three hours after un-elective coronary angiography, she experienced a sudden, transitory deterioration in her consciousness's level with neurovegetative symptoms (high blood pressure, high temperature). The cerebral Computer Tomography scan ruled out any acute hemorrhagic or ischemic str...

Impact of lipoprotein(a) on long-term outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with reduced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
Authors: Liu Y, Zeng Z, Yu X, Li T, Yao Y, Chen R, Zheng J Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of lipoprotein(a) level on long-range prognosis after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in patients with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goal attainment. In this retrospective study, 350 patients in Coronary artery disease (CAD) with LDL-C less than 1.8 mmol/L were enrolled in the Guangdong Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases from January 2011 to December 2013. Follow-up was 1 year after PCI. According to the median value of the study population based on Lp(a), the patients ...

Long-term clinical outcomes in patients with unstable angina undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions in a contemporary registry data from Poland
Conclusion Three-year prognosis in unstable angina was considerable better in comparison with NSTEMI. On the contrary, after adjustment for baseline differences, the outcomes (death, MI, MACE) in unstable angina and stable angina patients were comparable.

What Are the Main Acyanotic Congenital Heart Diseases?
Discussion Congenital heart diseases (CHD) are malformations of the heart and great vessels. It occurs in about 5-8/1000 live births. Cyanotic congenital heart disease is often noted perinatally because of cyanosis, respiratory distress and/or poor feeding or other distress type problems. A review can be found here. Acyanotic congenital heart disease (ACHD) can present at birth but often is seen in older children or adults unless the lesions are severe, especially obstructive lesions. Severe lesions may also cause cyanosis and distress type problems in patients also. Shunting lesions cause problems by diverting blood flo...
