Conclusions— Diabetes mellitus impairs poststroke reparative neovascularization and impedes the recovery. Glycemic control after stroke can improve neurovascular repair and improve functional outcome.

Neuropharmacological efficacy of metformin for stroke in rodents: A meta-analysis of preclinical trials
Conclusion: Overall, metformin treatment improves severe outcomes triggered by stroke. Despite the limitations intrinsic to animal studies, this systematic review may provide a vital reference for future high-quality preclinical trials and clinical use.

Comparative analysis of the neurovascular injury and functional outcomes in experimental stroke models in diabetic Goto-Kakizaki rats.

Metformin adherence and the risk of cardiovascular disease: a population-based cohort study
CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed that metformin adherence in patients with T2DM who required a first-line treatment may reduce the risk of subsequent CVD. Hemopericardium under dabigatran for stroke prevention in atrial fibrillation
We report a polymorbid 75-year old male under a therapy with dabigatran, valsartan, amlodipine, nicorandil, furosemide, atorvastatin, bisoprolol, metformin, tizanidine, pantoprazole, and tramadol. He suffered from chest pain for 4 months. Coronary angiography showed only ectatic coronary arteries. He started taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
