ConclusionsIn AF-stroke patients treated with OAC, the presence of CMBs was associated with an unfavorable composite outcome for both VKAs and DOACs, with a higher risk for recurrent IS than for ICH. Efficacy and Safety of Anticoagulants in Patients with Atrial Fibrillation and History of Falls or Risk of Falls: A Systematic Review and Multilevel Meta-Analysis
ConclusionNOACs were associated with less intracranial hemorrhages and ischemic strokes/systemic embolisms than VKAs in AF patients at risk of falls. These findings suggesting preferred use of NOACs over VKAs have clinical implications for physicians, patients and policy makers.

Dual therapy with oral anticoagulation and single antiplatelet agent versus monotherapy with oral anticoagulation alone in patients with atrial fibrillation and stable ischemic heart disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis
ConclusionsIn patients with AF and stable ischemic heart disease, OAC  + SAPT as compared to OAC monotherapy is associated with a significant increase in bleeding events without a significant reduction in thrombotic events, cardiovascular mortality, and all-cause mortality.

Early Versus Delayed Non-Vitamin K Antagonist Oral Anticoagulant Therapy After Acute Ischemic Stroke in Atrial Fibrillation (TIMING): A Registry-Based Randomized Controlled Noninferiority Study
CONCLUSIONS: Early initiation was noninferior to delayed start of NOAC after acute ischemic stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation. The association between the serum vitamin D levels and the stroke lesion size, functional ability, and cognition in elderly Korean ischemic stroke patients
This study included Korean ischemic stroke patients aged 65 to 85 years. The size of the lesion was measured in brain images taken within 24 hours of hospitalization. The level of 25-(OH) Vitamin D (ng/mL), a metabolite of vitamin D, in the serum collected within 48 hours of hospitalization, and the modified Barthel index (MBI), gait performance, the muscle power of hip and knee extensors on the hemiplegic side, and mini-mental status examination (MMSE) were recorded within 1 week of the onset of the disease. Association between white matter hyperintensity volume and social functioning limitations among stroke survivors
Existing literature on white matter hyperintensity volume (WMHV) in stroke patients has rarely focused on post-stroke outcomes related to social functioning limitations, such as transportation, social interaction, food preparation, grocery shopping, and housekeeping. Using prospective data from the VITamin D and OmegA-3 TriaL (VITAL) study, we evaluated the association between WMHV and social functioning limitations among 151 ischemic stroke patients.
