Exosome-transported lncRNA H19 regulates insulin-like growth factor-1 via the H19/let-7a/insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor axis in ischemic stroke
This study provides the first evidence for the transportation of lncRNA H19 by exosomes and the relationship between lncRNA H19 and insulin-like growth factor-1.PMID:36453417 | DOI:10.4103/1673-5374.357901

Triglyceride-glucose index as a prognostic marker after ischemic stroke or transient ischemic attack: a prospective observational study
CONCLUSIONS: TyG index is associated with cervicocerebral atherosclerosis and the MACE risk after a stroke, suggesting the potential value of TyG index to optimize the risk stratification of stroke patients. Activation of the Akt/FoxO3 signaling pathway enhances oxidative stress-induced autophagy and alleviates brain damage in a rat model of ischemic stroke
Can J Physiol Pharmacol. 2022 Oct 31. doi: 10.1139/cjpp-2022-0341. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAutophagy has been implicated in stroke. Our previous study showed that the FoxO3 transcription factor promotes autophagy after transient cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R). However, whether the Akt/FoxO3 signaling pathway plays a regulatory role in autophagy in cerebral I/R-induced oxidative stress injury is still unclear. The present study aims to investigate the effects of the Akt/FoxO3 signaling pathway on autophagy activation and neuronal injury in vitro and in vivo. By employing LY294002 or insulin to regulate the Akt/Fo...

Association of serum biomarkers with early neurologic improvement after intravenous thrombolysis in ischemic stroke
ConclusionsWe found that serum levels of CCL-23, CXCL-12, IGFBP-6, IL-5, LYVE-1, PAI-1, PDGF-AA, ST-2, and TNF- α at admission were associated with post-thrombolytic ENI in stroke. The role of biomarkers warrants further investigation. Trial registrationClinical Trial Registration: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov; identifier: NCT02854592.

Identification of immune cell infiltration and diagnostic biomarkers in unstable atherosclerotic plaques by integrated bioinformatics analysis and machine learning
CONCLUSION: M1 macrophages is an important cause of unstable plaque formation, and CD68, PAM, and IGFBP6 could be used as diagnostic markers to identify unstable plaques effectively.PMID:36211422 | PMC:PMC9537477 | DOI:10.3389/fimmu.2022.956078

Dental Pulp Stem Cell-Derived Conditioned Medium Alleviates Subarachnoid Hemorrhage-Induced Microcirculation Impairment by Promoting M2 Microglia Polarization and Reducing Astrocyte Swelling
This study aimed to investigate whether dental pulp stem cell conditioned medium (DPSC-CM) ameliorates SAH-induced microcirculation impairment and the underlying mechanisms. SAH was induced via intrathecal injection of fresh autologous blood in Wistar male adult rat. DPSC-CM or DPSC-CM + insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) antibody was randomly administered by intrathecal route 5 min after SAH induction. To evaluate the underlying mechanisms of DPSC-CM in the treatment of SAH, primary rat astrocyte and microglia co-cultures were challenged with hemolysate or SAH-patient CSF in the presence or absence of DPSC-CM. The results sh...

Long non-coding RNA RPL34-AS1 ameliorates oxygen –glucose deprivation-induced neuronal injury via modulating miR-223–3p/IGF1R axis
In this study, RPL34-AS1 expression was reduced in patients suffering from ischemic s troke. The overexpression of RPL34-AS1 reduced ischemic brain damage. However, the cell viability and glucose uptake were increased, and the apoptosis rate was decreased in the OGD/R-induced neurons. Further, miR-223-3p resulted in the decreased cell viability and glucose uptake and the increased ce ll apoptosis to cause ischemic brain damage. Besides, the neuroprotective effects of RPL34-AS1 on OGD/R injury were partly reversed by miR-223–3p. Mechanistically, lncRNA RPL34-AS1 could function as the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) of mi...

Effect of Intensive Glucose Control on Outcomes of Hyperglycemic Stroke Patients Receiving Mechanical Thrombectomy: Secondary Analysis of the SHINE Trial
Conclusions: Intensive blood glucose control among AIS patients presenting with hyperglycemia and treated with MT was not associated with lower rates of death or higher rates of long-term favorable outcomes when compared with standard treatment.

An Untargeted Lipidomics Study of Acute Ischemic Stroke with Hyperglycemia Based on Ultrahigh-Performance Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry
This study was to investigate the interrelationship between hyperglycemia and AIS and provided a reference for blood glucose management of AIS patients. The blood glucose level of AIS patients of the present study was controlled by insulin below 180 mg/dL (standard group) and between 80 and 130 mg/dL (management group). And the fasting venous blood samples were collected for determination of blood glucose level, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR), peptide C, and basal insulin level. Furthermore, lipids of the blood samples were detected using metabolomics, so as to clarify the similarities and dif...

Epileptic seizures during Non-Ketotic Hyperglycemia (NKH) in French Guiana: A retrospective study
ConclusionSeizures in NKH are symptomatic of an acute brain lesion or vascular epilepsy more than 1 in 2 times. However, isolated NKH can cause seizures with a suggestive brain MRI.

Heterogeneity of outcomes within diabetic patients with atrial fibrillation on edoxaban: a sub-analysis from the ETNA-AF Europe registry
ConclusionsIn a real-world cohort of AF patients on edoxaban, diabetes requiring insulin therapy, rather than the presence of diabetes per se, appears to be an independent factor affecting the occurrence of thromboembolic events during follow-up. Regardless of the diabetes type, diabetic patients had a lower survival compared with those without diabetes.Graphical abstract
