Plant-Derived Alkaloids: The Promising Disease-Modifying Agents for Inflammatory Bowel Disease
Conclusion This paper summarizes the current findings regarding the anti-colitis activity of plant-derived alkaloids and shows how these alkaloids exhibit significant and beneficial effects in alleviating colonic inflammation. These natural alkaloids are not only promising agents for IBD treatment but are also components for developing new wonder drugs. However, the underlying molecular mechanisms or toxicological evaluation of most plant-derived alkaloids still require much scientific research, and their actual efficacies for IBD patients have not been verified well in field research. Thus, further clinical trials to elu...

Geniposide Alleviates Glucocorticoid-Induced Inhibition of Osteogenic Differentiation in MC3T3-E1 Cells by ERK Pathway
Conclusion In summary, we demonstrated that geniposide alleviated GC-induced osteogenic suppression in MC3T3-E1 cells. The effects of geniposide were at least partially associated with activating ERK signaling pathway via GLP-1 receptor. Geniposide might be a potential therapeutic agent for protection against GC-induced osteoporosis. Author Contributions BX, DX, CZ, and LW participated in research design. BX, JW, YL, XW, and ZZ conducted the experiments. BX, DX, and LW contributed new reagents or analytic tools and wrote or contributed to the writing of the manuscript. BX, JW, CZ, and DX performed the data analysis. Fu...

A Review of the Botany, Traditional Use, Phytochemistry, Analytical Methods, Pharmacological Effects, and Toxicity of Angelicae Pubescentis Radix.
Authors: Yang L, Hou A, Wang S, Zhang J, Man W, Guo X, Yang B, Jiang H, Kuang H, Wang Q Abstract Angelicae Pubescentis Radix (AP), as a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), has been used for thousands of years in China. In this paper, the botany, traditional use, phytochemistry, analytical methods, quality control, pharmacological effects, and toxicity of AP were reviewed. It can provide a reference for the further research and lay a foundation for the rational clinical application of AP. The relevant information on AP was collected from scientific databases (such as Baidu Scholar, CNKI, Google Scholar, PubMed, Scie...

The increased risk of atrial fibrillation in inflammatory arthritis: a systematic review and meta-analysis of cohort studies.
Conclusion: Patients with inflammatory arthritis have increased risk of AF, probably due to the underlying chronic inflammation. Although various confounders have been adjusted like medications use and comorbidities, the risk of AF is still significantly increased in inflammatory arthritis patients. Abbreviations: AF: Atrial fibrillation; AS: Ankylosing spondylitis; CI: Confidence interval; HR: Hazard ratio; NOS: Newcastle-Ottawa scale; NSAIDs: Non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs; PsA: Psoriatic arthritis; RA: Rheumatoid arthritis; SpA: Spondyloarthritis; TNFi: Tumor necrosis factors inhibitor; uSpA: Undifferentiated spond...

Knockdown of NAA25 Suppresses Breast Cancer Progression by Regulating Apoptosis and Cell Cycle
Front Oncol. 2022 Jan 13;11:755267. doi: 10.3389/fonc.2021.755267. eCollection 2021.ABSTRACTNAA25 gene variants were reported as risk factors for type 1 diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis and acute arterial stroke. But it's unknown whether it could contribute to breast cancer. We identified rs11066150 in lncHSAT164, which contributes to breast cancer, in our earlier genome-wide long non-coding RNA association study on Han Chinese women. However, rs11066150 A/G variant is also located in NAA25 intron. Based on the public database, such as TCGA and Curtis dataset, NAA25 gene is highly expressed in breast cancer tissues and this ...

Multimorbidity patterns and association with mortality in 0.5 million Chinese adults
CONCLUSION: Cardiometabolic multimorbidity and respiratory multimorbidity posed the highest threat on mortality risk and deserved particular attention in Chinese adults.PMID:35191418 | DOI:10.1097/CM9.0000000000001985

ATP-binding cassette G1 membrane transporter-mediated cholesterol efflux capacity influences coronary atherosclerosis and cardiovascular risk in Rheumatoid Arthritis
CONCLUSION: ABCG1-CEC inversely associated with plaque burden and vulnerability, and plaque progression conditionally on cumulative inflammation and corticosteroid dose. ABCG1-CEC inversely associated with events specifically in patients with noncalcified plaques, lower inflammation and in prednisone users.PMID:36996698 | DOI:10.1016/j.jaut.2023.103029

Statins influence the relationship between ATP-binding cassette A1 membrane transporter-mediated cholesterol efflux capacity and coronary atherosclerosis in rheumatoid arthritis
CONCLUSION: In patients with RA, higher ABCA1-CEC may reflect a proatherogenic state, associated with enhanced cardiovascular risk. Statin use may unmask the protective impact of ABCA1-mediated cholesterol efflux on plaque formation, progression and cardiovascular risk.PMID:37484708 | PMC:PMC10362327 | DOI:10.1016/j.jtauto.2023.100206
