Pitavastatin Combined with Ezetimibe Treatment was an Effective Approach to Non-IRA Lesion of ST-segment Elevation Myocardial Infarc-tion Patients with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
CONCLUSION: The results mentioned above suggested that pitavastatin combined with ezetimibe was an effective approach to STEMI patients with non-IRA disease undergoing primary PCI. The results obtained in this study have provided a novel way for the treatment of STEMI patients with non-IRA disease undergoing primary PCI. PMID: 32598255 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cardiovascular Outcomes Post Percutaneous Coronary Intervention in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Type  2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionOSA was associated with a significant increase in all-cause mortality and MACEs post PCI in these patients with T2DM. Therefore, special care and continuous follow-up might be required for patients with T2DM with associated OSA after PCI. However, as a result of the limited number of participants, further larger studies would be required to confirm these hypotheses.

Long-term clinical outcomes in patients with unstable angina undergoing percutaneous coronary interventions in a contemporary registry data from Poland
Conclusion Three-year prognosis in unstable angina was considerable better in comparison with NSTEMI. On the contrary, after adjustment for baseline differences, the outcomes (death, MI, MACE) in unstable angina and stable angina patients were comparable.

Impact of lipoprotein(a) on long-term outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in patients with reduced low-density lipoprotein cholesterol.
Authors: Liu Y, Zeng Z, Yu X, Li T, Yao Y, Chen R, Zheng J Abstract The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of lipoprotein(a) level on long-range prognosis after Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) in patients with low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) goal attainment. In this retrospective study, 350 patients in Coronary artery disease (CAD) with LDL-C less than 1.8 mmol/L were enrolled in the Guangdong Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases from January 2011 to December 2013. Follow-up was 1 year after PCI. According to the median value of the study population based on Lp(a), the patients ...

Coronary artery bypass graft surgery versus percutaneous coronary intervention in unprotected left main coronary artery disease: A systematic review.
Authors: Macovei L, Magopet R, Tanasa A, Raileanu C, Prisacariu C, Presura MR, Balasanian MO Abstract Critical lesion of the unprotected left main coronary disease carries a tremendous mortality burden, often associated with a diabetes status or multivessel disease, with coronary artery bypass grafting being the standard treatment for over 40 years. Percutaneous coronary intervention with drug eluting stents should be taken into consideration and could be a better option for patients with low SYNTAX score as validated by the recently published studies. This review summarizes the major randomized clinical trials and...

Clinical outcomes of PCI with rotational atherectomy: the European multicentre Euro4C registry.
CONCLUSIONS: Despite the high level of complexity of the studied population, RA turned out to be an effective procedure with a low rate of in-hospital complications and demonstrated good immediate and mid-term results. PMID: 32250249 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Diabetes mellitus is associated with high sleep-time systolic blood pressure and non-dipping pattern.
Conclusion: DM is independently associated with suboptimal 24-hour BP control. This association is mainly attributed to a high sleep-time systolic BP. PMID: 32208051 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Age and diabetes mellitus associated with worse outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention in a multi-ethnic Asian dialysis patient population.
CONCLUSION: Asian dialysis patients who underwent PCI had a two-year MACE rate of 55.8% due to death and AMI. Age, LVEF and diabetes mellitus were significant predictors of mortality at two years. PMID: 32179924 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Rivaroxaban Plus Aspirin Versus Aspirin Alone in Patients with Prior Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (COMPASS-PCI).
Conclusions: DPI compared with aspirin produced consistent reductions in MACE and mortality but with increased major bleeding with or without prior PCI. Among those with prior PCI one- year and beyond, effects on MACE and mortality were consistent irrespective of time since last PCI. Current Use and Trends in Unprotected Left Main Coronary Artery Percutaneous Intervention
AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo review the clinical evidence on the use of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) revascularization options in left main (LM) disease in comparison with coronary artery bypass graft (CABG). Coronary artery disease (CAD) involving the LM is associated with high morbidity and mortality. Though CABG remains the gold standard for complex CAD involving the LM artery, recent trials have shown a trend towards non-inferiority of the LM PCI when compared with CABG in certain subset of patients.Recent FindingsTwo recent major randomized trials compared the outcomes of PCI versus CABG in the LM and multi...

Effect of inter-arm blood pressure differences on outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention.
CONCLUSION: Among patients treated with PCI, the incidence of MACE was significantly higher in those with a higher IABPD (≥10 mmHg) than in those with a lower IABPD (<10 mmHg), which was mainly driven by ischemia-driven target vessel revascularization. Predictive value of the combination of age, creatinine, and ejection fraction score and diabetes in patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
This study investigated whether the age, creatinine, and ejection fraction (ACEF) score [age (years) /ejection fraction (%) +1 (if creatinine>176μmol/L)] could predict 1-year outcomes following ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction after percutaneous coronary intervention, and whether accuracy could be improved by establishing novel ACEF-derived risk models. Methods: A total of 1146 patients were included. The study endpoint was 1-year major adverse cardio-cerebrovascular events, including all-cause death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, unplanned revascularization, and nonfatal stroke. Accuracy was defined with a...

Long-term outcomes after percutaneous coronary intervention relative to bypass surgery in diabetic patients with multivessel coronary artery disease according to clinical presentation
Conclusion Among diabetic patients with MVD, the long-term outcomes of PCI versus CABG differed according to clinical presentation. CABG may be more beneficial for NSTE-ACS patients with MVD in reducing MACCE and MI, whereas PCI was as effective as CABG for SCAD patients with MVD. Therefore, clinical presentation must be considered when choosing revascularization strategies in these patients.
