Conclusions:Aphemia, or apraxia of speech, is a rare presentation of dominant inferior frontal gyrus infarction. Aphemia is primarily a disorder of articulation, whereas aphasia is a disorder of language. This patient lost her ability to produce speech but was able to comprehend and write fluently. Her deficit did not fit a classic aphasia pattern but rather represented an inability to voluntarily control her oral muscles, resulting in a transient apraxia of the muscles of articulation, chewing, and deglutition. The relationship between novel word learning and anomia treatment success in adults with chronic aphasia
Discussion This is the first group study to directly examine the relationship between novel word learning and therapy outcomes for anomia rehabilitation in adults with aphasia. Importantly, we found that novel word learning performance was correlated with therapy outcomes. We propose that novel word learning ability may contribute to the initial acquisition of treatment gains in anomia rehabilitation.

Brief mindfulness meditation group training in aphasia: exploring attention, language and psychophysiological outcomes.

Aphasia-accessible Spatial Neglect Care
To learn whether the Catherine Bergego Scale (CBS) via the Kessler Foundation Neglect Assessment Process, and prism adaptation therapy (PAT; Barrett and Houston, 2019) provided aphasia-accessible spatial neglect care, in a left-handed, Cambodian-speaking stroke survivor (55 years) with right spatial neglect and global aphasia. Right-sided spatial neglect affects up to 50% of left brain stroke survivors, however many are never diagnosed or treated. A therapist can encounter great difficulty instructing people with communication disability (aphasia) during neglect assessment and treatment.
