Hippocampal volumes among older Indian adults: Comparison with Alzheimer's disease and mild cognitive impairment
Conclusion: The volume of the hippocampus in older Indian adults was 2.77 ± 0. 6 cm3 on the right side and 2.73 ± 0.52 cm3 on the left side. There was a significant hippocampal volume loss in MCI/AD compared to cognitively normal subjects.

The use of a portable three-lead ECG monitor to detect atrial fibrillation in general practice.
CONCLUSIONS: The inexpensive portable PEM device recording diagnosed AF with a high sensitivity and specificity. KEY POINTS Simple ECG monitors could be useful to identify atrial fibrillation and thereby lead to a better prevention of stroke. The PEM device was easy to use and 95.7% of the recordings were technically acceptable for detecting atrial fibrillation. The PEM device has a high sensitivity and specificity in detecting atrial fibrillation compared to a standard 12-lead ECG. Cerebral glucose metabolism and cognition in newly diagnosed Parkinson's disease: ICICLE-PD study
Conclusions Reductions in cortical FDG metabolism were present in newly diagnosed PD, and correlated with performance on neuropsychological tests. A reduced baseline parietal metabolism is associated with risk of cognitive decline and may represent a potential biomarker for this state and the development of PD dementia.

Incidence and risk factors of leukoaraiosis from 4683 hospitalized patients: A cross-sectional study
This study revealed that the incidence of LA is high in hospitalized patients in China; moreover, age, sex, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking, drinking, and abnormal HCY and LDL-C levels were found to be associated with overall LA risk, LA onset, or LA progression. Anosognosia Is an Independent Predictor of Conversion From Mild Cognitive Impairment to Alzheimer's Disease and Is Associated With Reduced Brain Metabolism.
CONCLUSIONS: Anosognosia in AD is related to brain glucose hypometabolism. Further, anosognosia independently predicts conversion from MCI to AD.
