Clinico-radiological predictors of vascular cognitive impairment (VCI) in patients with stroke: A prospective observational study
Conclusion: Post-stroke cognitive impairment is frequent and is associated with poor functional outcome. Predictors like lower educational status, strategic site lesion, greater severity of age related white matter changes and baseline stroke severity independently contributed to the risk of developing VCI in stroke patients.Highlights:

Calcium supplements linked to post-stroke dementia in women
Conclusion The media paint this as a troubling study for older women who take calcium to strengthen their bones. However the small size of the study (only 98 women took calcium supplements, and only 14 of those got dementia) and its observational nature mean that we cannot rely on the results. High Neutrophil –Lymphocyte Ratio Predicts Post-stroke Cognitive Impairment in Acute Ischemic Stroke Patients
Conclusions: NLR in the acute stage of ischemic stroke was independently associated with PSCI at 3 months after stroke, and high NLR was specifically associated with cognitive dysfunction in the memory and visuospatial domains. Thus, systemic inflammation may be a modifiable risk factor that may influence cognitive outcomes after stroke.

Cognitive recovery in patients with post-stroke subjective cognitive complaints
ConclusionsAlthough post-stroke SCC contributes to persisting objective cognitive deficits, some patients presented cognitive recovery within 1 year after stroke. Patients with a high education level reporting SCC at earlier stage after stroke had poorer cognitive recovery. Male, higher baseline MoCA scores, coffee intake and thalamus lesions appear to independently predict cognitive recovery.

Importance of Retesting for the Final Diagnosis of Post-Stroke Cognitive Impairment
Conclusions: We established the prevalence of CogI and its course after 6 months in a well-defined group of patients after a mild ischaemic stroke (mean NIHSS: 2 and mean mRS: 1 at the discharge). Our results show that the prevalence of CogI after an ischaemic stroke at discharge is relatively high (74%), and it tends to be a spontaneous reduction. Cognitive functions were changed in 35% of patients. The definition of PSCI was completed in only 24% of individuals.
