Outcome of antenatal invasive diagnostic tests in a fetal medicine unit with low case load in North Wales, United Kingdom
This study is the first long-term audit data from a smaller fetal medicine unit with relatively low annual case load, suggesting that miscarriage risk may actually be lower than the current understanding. No additional risk of miscarriage or pregnancy loss following fetal invasive procedures even with relatively low annual numbers than that recommended by the RCOG.What the implications are of these findings for clinical practice and/or further research? The findings of this study are important in the era of non-invasive prenatal testing which will see the overall number of fetal invasive procedures decline with time. Compe...

The OASI care bundle quality improvement project: lessons learned and future direction
AbstractRising rates of obstetric anal sphincter injury (OASI) led to a collaborative effort by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) and the Royal College of Midwives (RCM) to develop and evaluate the OASI Care Bundle (OASI-CB). The OASI-CB comprises four practices (antenatal discussion about OASI, manual perineal protection, mediolateral episiotomy at 60 ° from the midline, and systematic examination of the perineum, vagina and ano-rectum after vaginal birth) and was initially implemented as part of a quality improvement (QI) project—“OASI1”—in 16 maternity units across Great Britain. Risk stratification for venous thrombosis in post-partum women in a tertiary care setup in south India
CONCLUSIONS: It was seen that the number of women needing prophylaxis in our setup, as per the RCOG guidelines, was as high as 601 (36.4%), but only five (0.8%) received it.PMID:33707396 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_1564_18 (Source: Indian J Med Res)
