Rosai-Dorfman-Destombes disease with a misleading laryngeal presentation
We report here a case illustrating this diagnostic difficulty. Firstly, clinically, the disease was revealed by an unusual laryngeal location, responsible for acute obstructive respiratory distress and requiring urgent surgical management. Secondly, histologically, the diagnosis was not evoked in the first instance by analysis of the laryngeal lesion. Indeed, there was a not specific appearing polymorphic infiltrate, associating small lymphocytes, plasma cells and numerous histiocytes, without evidence for a lymphoma after immunohistochemistry and lymphocyte clonality analysis. However, after re-examination of the slides, ...

Rosai-dorfman's disease in the submandibular region of a paediatric patient: a case report
This study aims to report an uncommon case of the disease in the submandibular region. A 7-year-old female patient presented with submandibular swelling of 3 months ’ duration. No intraoral manifestations were observed. Computed tomography scan demonstrated reabsorption of the mandibular cortical bone. An incisional biopsy was performed, and microscopic examination showed a diffuse mononuclear cell infiltration, with xanthomatous cells and emperipolesis of th e lymphocytes. Langerhans cell histiocytosis associated with erdhein-chester's disease: a rare occurrence
Histiocytosis, Rosai-Dorfman, and Erdhein-Chester are rare diseases caused by infiltration of histiocytes that can involve 1 or multiple organs. Diagnosis is made based on imaging and biopsy of the lesions. The immunohistochemistry profile in Langerhans cell histiocytosis includes positivity to S-100 and CD1-A, whereas in Erdhein-Chester disease, lesions are positive to CD68 and negative to S-100 and CD1-A. A 60-year-old Black female patient whose main complaint was tooth loss reported recent dental implant placement and retroperitoneal fibrosis treated with mycophenolate mofetil. Inflammatory diseases in hematology: a review
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2022 Aug 8. doi: 10.1152/ajpcell.00356.2021. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHematopoietic cells are instrumental in generating and propagating protective inflammatory responses to infection or injury. However, excessive inflammation contributes to many diseases of the blood, bone marrow, and lymphatic system. We review three clinical categories of hematological inflammatory diseases in which recent clinical and translational advances have been made. The first category are monogenic inflammatory diseases. Genotype-driven research has revealed that previously mysterious diseases with protean manifes...
