Unilateral Fixation of the Bony Pyramid in Deviated Nose Correction
AbstractDeviated nose correction is one of the most challenging procedures in rhinoplasty. Recent studies proposed effectiveness of preservation techniques even for patients with crooked nose deformity, although the long-term results are still controversial. Obviously, only addressing the blocking points is not enough to achieve stable midline position in crooked nose. To ensure consistent long-term results, we proposed a unilateral suturing of the bony pyramid along with unilateral resection of the excessive bone along the lateral osteotomy line. The first results of described surgical technique have proven its simplicity...

Approach to Major Nasal Reconstruction
This article reviews special considerations in complex nasal defects including treatment of adjacent subunit defects, timing of repair with radiation, reconstruction in patients with prior repairs or recurrent disease, and the role of prosthetics. The role of technological advances including virtual surgical planning, 3 dimensional printing, biocompatible materials, and tissue engineering is discussed. Reconstruction of Scroll and Pitanguy ’s Ligaments in Open Rhinoplasty: A Controlled Randomized Study
ConclusionsThe best surgical option appears to be the combination of ligament repair and grafts. It reduces dead space and enables a better redraping of soft tissues, obtaining a better control of tip projection, position, and rotation.Level of Evidence IIThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Nasal morphological changes due to maxillary advancement surgery: should we consider while doing rhinoplasty?
Objectives: Because of close relationship between the soft tissues in nasolabial region and maxilla, changing the maxilla position with orthognathic surgery leads to the changes in shape and functions of nose. The aim of this study is cephalometric evaluation of morphological changes in the 3-dimensional structure and the projection of nose after maxillary advancement surgery. Is antibiotic prophylaxis generally safe and effective in surgical and non-surgical scenarios? Evidence from an umbrella review of randomized controlled trials
CONCLUSIONS: Antibiotic prophylaxis in surgical and non-surgical scenarios is generally effective and seems independent of surgical cleanliness and urgency of diseases. Its safety is not well determined due to lack of available data. Nevertheless, the low quality of current evidence limits the external validity of these findings, necessitating clinicians to judiciously assess indications, balancing low infection rates with antibiotic-related side effects.PMID:38016138 | DOI:10.1097/JS9.0000000000000923 (Source: Hand Surgery)
