Reply to: “Invited Discussion on: Video Assisted Septo-Rhinoplasty, the Future of Endonasal Rhinoplasty–a Technical Note”
AbstractWe respond to Gryskiewic and Alameddine ’s commentary on our recent study regarding endoscopic use in rhinoplasty. Highlighting the context-dependent nature of technique superiority, we discuss the alternative approach of Video Assisted Rhinoseptoplasty (VARS) in mitigating visible scarring concerns. Additionally, we emphasize the benef its of comparing closed procedures with and without endoscopic assistance, underscoring the advantages of optical utilization. Our perspective on nasal tip surgery advocates for enlarged marginal incisions to facilitate direct visual control, complementing our approach. Addressing...

TikTok Videos Related to Rhinoplasty in China: Characteristics and the Quality of the Information
ConclusionsThis study is the first report in China to evaluate the quality of information in nose plastic surgery-related videos on TikTok. We found that the quality of videos created by plastic surgeons on the TikTok platform is generally high, while videos provided by news media have lower quality. We encourage healthcare professionals to share more high-quality information on TikTok and educate patients on how to properly handle misinformation.Level of Evidence IVThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Anthropometry and Current Aesthetic Concept of the Lower Third of the Face and Lips in Caucasian Adult Population: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis
ConclusionsThe review provides a detailed database of primary anthropometric studies of lips and perioral regions of the healthy Caucasian population. The attractiveness of the region is focused on uniformity of proportions. Notably, results acquired with different methods of measurement are not interchangeable. Despite many published anthropometric studies, systems for conducting the measurements and reporting the results are not sufficiently unified to quantitatively assess meticulous key aesthetic clinical parameters.Level of Evidence IThis journal requires that authors assign a level of evidence to each article. Effect of Dorsal Preservation Techniques on Septum Strength: An Experimental Animal Study
Facial Plast Surg DOI: 10.1055/a-2263-2101This experimental animal model study investigates the impact of different methods employed in preservation rhinoplasty (PR) on the strength of the nasal roof, focusing on three techniques: high strip, low strip, and intermediate strip. Using 15 lamb heads as surgical models, the study addresses key questions related to the strengths of each PR techniques, the influence of septal cartilage harvesting on septum strength, and the effectiveness of spreader grafts for stability. The research involves detailed dissection steps and measurements at various nasal points, evaluating the resi...

F-Chin/Feminizing the Chin: A Genioplasty Technique with Virtual Planning for Male-to-Female Transgender Patients
AbstractThe chin is an essential structure in facial harmony and an important gender marker. Advancing a receding chin is fundamental to improve the facial appearance, particularly in male-to-female transgender patients. However, in patients with microgenia and/or retrognathia, desiring a more feminine appearance, a chin  advancement can result in a wider, square shape; an undesirable effect. Genioplasty is a versatile procedure used in facial feminization surgery that allows modifying the natural anatomy of the chin in all three spatial dimensions. The technique herein described proposes a simple genioplasty proc edure f...

Trends and Preferences of Rhinoplasty Among Chinese Patients: A Social Media Analysis
ConclusionsDiscussions about rhinoplasty in China are increasing, and more people express their desire for rhinoplasty on social networks, related to China ’s DI growth. The Southern provinces show a higher inclination toward these discussions, a trend that correlates with our findings of a positive association between NOPs and both DI and population size. Netizens pay more attention to the shape of nasal tip and nasion, and prefer the good-looking a nd natural appearance. Most people consider autologous cartilage or hyaluronic acid injection for rhinoplasty. Doctors are the primary consideration for patients.Level of Ev...

Prevention and Management of Complications in Nasal Reconstruction
Nasal reconstruction is a challenging practice with the potential for complications. Surgeons can prevent complications through preoperative optimization of patient factors, refinement of intraoperative surgical techniques, and postoperative surgical and nonsurgical wound care. Preoperatively, optimization of modifiable and recognition of nonmodifiable risk factors is paramount. Intraoperatively, meticulous flap design and surgical technique promote healing. In the postoperative setting, attentive wound care, adjuvant therapies, and close follow-up for consideration of additional procedures enhance outcomes. By anticipatin...

Hyaluronidase: A New and Powerful Ally for Post-Rhinoplasty Fibrosis
AbstractRhinoplasty outcome may depend on different factors: patient ’s selection, technique, surgeons’ skills and patient’s healing. Different surgical maneuvers can be performed in order to reduce post-operative risk of fibrosis such as dead spaces’ closure, sub-perichondral and subperiosteal dissection and nasal ligaments preservation or reconstruction. Ho wever, in some patients, especially the ones with thick and sebaceous skin, these maneuvers may not be enough. Here we propose a new alternative to treat post-rhinoplasty fibrosis using a combination of Triamcinolone Acetonide and Hyaluronidase.Level of Eviden...
