Myotonic dystrophy type 1 - a multiorgan disorder
Tidsskr Nor Laegeforen. 2024 Apr 16;144(5). doi: 10.4045/tidsskr.23.0687. Print 2024 Apr 23.ABSTRACTMyotonic dystrophy type 1 is an autosomal dominant, inherited multiorgan disorder that can affect people of all ages. It is the most prevalent inherited muscular disease in adults. Late diagnosis points to limited knowledge among the medical community that symptoms other than typical muscular symptoms can dominate. The condition often worsens with each generation and some families are severely affected. Significantly delayed diagnosis means a risk of more serious development of the disorder and inadequate symptomatic treatme...

Influence of Pre- and Intraoperative Local Anaesthetic in Strabismus Surgery under General Anaesthesia in Adults
CONCLUSION: As this increases patient safety and comfort and is cost-effective (less time in the recovery room), we recommend adding perioperative local anaesthesia to strabismus surgery performed under general anaesthesia.PMID:38653301 | DOI:10.1055/a-2268-9411 (Source: Klinische Monatsblatter fur Augenheilkunde)

Primary afferents of trigeminal autonomic reflex may not be nociceptive: A case report
CONCLUSIONS: Contrary to popular belief, in the patient who was pain-free after percutaneous balloon compression, the transiently overactivated nerve fibers that led to hypersalivation were not nociceptive afferents of the trigeminal nerve.PMID:38650552 | DOI:10.5137/1019-5149.JTN.34594-21.1 (Source: Turkish Neurosurgery)
