CRIP Review 2024
Just leaving CRIP in Dallas and I wanted to first say how impressed I was with the quality of students interviewing. Most students were well-prepared to answer academic questions and work-up a case presentation. This is truly a testament to their education and training in podiatry school. Also, I'm happy to see many students who identify limb salvage as a field of interest. The opportunity most students have for improvement is on their interview style. Here are some pointers while they are... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Contract negotiations: everything but salary
working through some negotiations on contracts. What are some things that should be negotiated into contracts other than salary? Understand insurance, time off, cme etc. but what are some other non common ancillary things you’ve found beneficial to contracts? Any other general tips on negotiation? Toenails. You don't have to cut them. Trust me. Just say no.
Don't do it. It's a not a service you offer. Don't do it. History of amputation and /or revascularization ok I will. Otherwise go to another podiatrist. It will be ok. There are other patients. Trust me. Don't do it. Nails. Always nails. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pics of terrible orthotics
Let's see if we can keep this from devolving into how Podiatry is a terrible return on the investment. Let's post pics of terrible orthotics. Me first. This was made by a company that says they go to people's houses to fit them instead of having a office location. This is a multi-state organization. The best part is the patient said they just dropped him off at his front door after they were made. Of course he came to me with a new ulcer approximately 3 weeks after getting these. I've had... Lobster Podiatry Explained
I was writing a lengthy reply to the fellowship thread which got locked before it got posted. Thanks mods! I don’t know what LCR means…or TFP or lobster for that matter. If anyone wants to fill me in…. Click to expand... If you don't understand these then I doubt you've read 2 years worth of posts as you claim. LCR refers to Lee C Rogers. Aka diabeticfootdoctor. Outgoing prez of ABPM, one-time candidate for US congress, Feli's arch nemesis. He holds many opinions with which we strenuously... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Totally Demoralized
MCAT is in a few weeks. I'm considering backing out. I'm totally lost in my life right now and none of this seems worth it. Talk about return on investment, I've been in school forever, the whole time I've been depressed, lonely, no friends, nothing. I have no money and I'm trapped. This whole country is a scam. I don't think I have a future. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Will we see podiatrists working for WalMart?
THIS thread discussion from 2007, shortly before Western Univ pod opened, is one of the best SDN podiatry threads ever. It was conversational, good points, good discussion, no insults, probably should be a sticky? The whole thread is awesome, way ahead of its time, and I think posts like this and this are as true today as they were 15+ years ago. It correctly predicted many things, most notably the upcoming residency shortages and continued lack of selectivity for podiatry... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Spouse ’s income/Finance question
My fiancee makes $200,000. She has a lot of student loans as well. We combine for $500k in student loans. I’m about to take a job that makes $225,000 out of residency. What would you guys suggest is the best way to tackle our debt? Should we rent and go all out against the student loans for two years? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Proper PLS logging
I could use some wisdom on proper logging for this procedure in PLS: Performed cheilectomy and implanted arthroflex graft over metatarsal head which is anchored into bone. This is the technique guide: https://www.arthrex.com/es/recursos...arthroplasty-with-arthroflex-dermal-allograft Unsure if I should be logging just cheilectomy or if this is sufficient for implant. Thank you all for your wisdom. If anyone wants to we can keep this thread open for... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Left Pod School for DO, Have 1A and 5II AMA
***Long Post; TLDR at end*** Last AMA I did for leaving pod school was locked bc folks couldn't keep crappy opinions to themselves. This thread is truly for people who may be genuinely considering leaving pod school and have questions or want to know what my experiences have been. Please do not beat the "podiatry sucks" drum or tap the "less competition for the current pod students" sign. For reference, I left to pursue NP/PA but after I retook the MCAT (494->495->500) I was encouraged... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Workload of Pharmacists compared to other health professions?
What is the workload like for a pharmacist compared to other health professions, such as podiatrists, dentists, etc.? What is the level of knowledge that you must maintain in order to be a competent pharmacist compared to other health professions? How about the difficulty of the day-to-day job compared to other health professions? Do you carry less risk of being sued since you are not directly operating on patients? I have read that you don't take your work home with you unlike other... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
