Warning For those applying to podiatry school:
Let me just say one thing to those thinking they should go to podiatry school. Do not. I've been practicing for years and I ask you to crunch the numbers for a second. you can expect possibly to make as much as a fast food manager with twice the workload, 10x the stress and 300,000x the debt. if your applying to be a "doctor" you are being prideful. that is all. Applying
MCAT came back, haven't taken physics or biochem, got a 500. sciGPA is 3.42, cGPA is a 3.02 I believe I want to go into this field but keep having hesitations. I don't want to go to be an internist, or FM doc, or pediatrician which it seems most students from DO schools go into. Furthermore, I doubt I'd be even able to match into a surgical residency if I went to traditional medical school. That being said, I suppose it isn't possible to take a year off and increase my cGPA, retake the MCAT... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Assigning "Chief" position/title for a program with 5 residents?
Im at a program with 5 residents a year. How has your residency program gone about assigning "Chief". Im a believer that only one person gets the "Chief" title. There was talks about having 5 titles such as, Chief, Assistant Chief, and Chief of Academics, Chief of Social, Chief of Scheduling, etc. I dont think this will work. What do yall think? Applying for state license question
I’m thinking about moving to be closer to my family in the near future so I’m looking into applying for that states license. One part of the application wants me to reach out to my previous jobs and have them sign a form saying when I worked for them I didn’t have any issues/lawsuits/complaints, which I didn’t. However my first job was a classic associate job where I made a residents salary (signed a terrible bonus filled contract) and when I left after 2 years the boss was just upset... Jefferson NE
As match rankings approach I wanted more information on Jefferson NE in PA. Specifically about their relationship with ortho and their change into a new director? They seem to have big volume but do they have diversity? Is it a good program to invest 3 years into? How would you compare it againts Bryn Mawr and Temple? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The things I learned from other doctors while in residency
Besides medical knowledge, there were many life lessons I learned while I interacted with medical professionals on my off service months. From a radiologist: Where you go for residency ultimately does not matter. An average residency will teach you 95% of the field. The top ones will open up that last 5% for you. The bar for medicine is so high already that the lowest graduating doctor is still minimally competent. From an orthopedic surgeon: Never take call for free. The stress on your... Podiatry Hall of Shame
Hi everyone this thread - The Podiatry Hall of Shame - is dedicated to calling out employers in the field who take advantage of younger associates. This should be used to educate docs on jobs that they should consider avoiding. Feel free to send me a DM message if you do not want to post with your account. Eventually this will be used to create a sharable web document. Looking for specifics. Not just stay away from a practice managed by owner's wife. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

CRIP Review 2024
Just leaving CRIP in Dallas and I wanted to first say how impressed I was with the quality of students interviewing. Most students were well-prepared to answer academic questions and work-up a case presentation. This is truly a testament to their education and training in podiatry school. Also, I'm happy to see many students who identify limb salvage as a field of interest. The opportunity most students have for improvement is on their interview style. Here are some pointers while they are... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Toenails. You don't have to cut them. Trust me. Just say no.
Don't do it. It's a not a service you offer. Don't do it. History of amputation and /or revascularization ok I will. Otherwise go to another podiatrist. It will be ok. There are other patients. Trust me. Don't do it. Nails. Always nails. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
