Worked for parent as Dental Assistant during COVID. Clinical?
At the beginning of the pandemic, my parent's dental assistant left, and they could not find anyone to work at that time. I became their uncertified part-time dental assistant for a year (~400 hours) to help out, and I was paid. This experience taught me a lot about healthcare and building patient relationships, and I assisted in all procedures. I also wanted to briefly talk about it at the beginning of my personal statement because it did drive me toward healthcare. I have ~500 hours of... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Scrubs or Suit?
What do you wear? Throughout training everyone except brachy day dressed up. During the pandemic that changed and now a couple of my colleagues wear scrubs. For many years I liked dressing up. Now I'm thinking about going to scrubs. What do you do? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How much chemistry do you actually encounter in vet school?
Hi! I will be starting vet school in the fall. I took o-chem and biochem during the pandemic and do not feel confident at all in my knowledge of either subject. Does vet school content touch on chemistry content in depth? Will this material be re-taught in vet school? Thank you! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Adversity/resilience topic
Thank you for reading. Maybe I haven't thought about it hard enough, but I feel I haven't faced too much adversity in my life. I'm very grateful for this except for now, having to answer the adversity/resilience question. I'm considering writing about transferring twice, once mid pandemic, and how I had to adapt to three different schools and start from scratch learning each system/location and meeting new people. It'd also explain why I'm submitting transcripts from four schools I... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

My Vulnerable and Personal Caribbean Medical School Journey (Part 2-Final)
Hello again SDN! This is insane that I'm back on here years later. I am here to finally reveal the ending of a story I started several years ago. ✨spoiler alert✨ I matched into my #1 program! Here is the link to Part 1 of my story: My Vulnerable and Personal Caribbean Medical School Journey That was written pre-pandemic, so of course a lot has happened during that time, in terms of my medical training. -Timeline- Because of the pandemic, I (like many others, I assume) had big gaps... Multiple pre-clinical failures and now COMLEX LEVEL 1 failure.
Hello everyone. I started school in the midst of the pandemic and since the beginning started off on the wrong foot. I am not justifying my failures I am just mentioning what happened. I failed preclin courses in first and second years because I was having family issues (medical and immigration). After my first year I really thought I had figured out a solid plan but again was hit with similar medical/immigration issues in the second year. After I failed in my second year I took some time... Have I been misinformed about projected hours?
I was told as a young naive premed by a medical student at a T20 that projected hours were fine, especially for clinical hours if I had a hard time getting them during undergrad, and to focus on my grades/MCAT/research while in school. They said "you can easily rack up 2000 hours during your gap year, and can project those on your application, so don't worry about them as much until then," especially in the wake of the pandemic. I've been hearing more recently though that projected hours... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
