Graduated in 2019- experienced burnout and only now fully gained my perspective back
Hello Everyone, Here is my story: I graduated from UCLA in 2019 with a bachelor's in Biology (3.83 GPA and a 3.76 BCPM GPA). I was initially scheduled to take my MCAT in March of 2020; however, due to the onset of the COVID pandemic and the ensuing lockdown, my MCAT was canceled and kept getting canceled for the following months. However, I still wanted to apply to certain medical schools that were offering conditional interviews and acceptances for students without an MCAT score... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Vet/PhD: Anyone want to help write an SDN article?
Also posted with the Research Scientists forum. Hi everyone, It's been about five years since SDN posted an article about MD/PhD admissions. Is there anyone interested in writing an article (can be collaborative) about the nuances of developing a strong MD/PhD (MSTP) or research-focused application (like DVM/PhD)? Comments about the process since the COVID pandemic? Alternatively, I can compile your wisdom, provided I can organize it into a nice article. Ideally this article... Interview Feedback Responses
I've been browsing through the Interview Feedback Responses, and it has been tremendously helpful and seems widely used by many, although I have some suggestions that might help out with the user experience. I feel like interviews (and therefore interview feedback responses) that have been conducted before the pandemic vs after the pandemic began, differ significantly from my eyeballing, particularly with the shift to virtual formats. I think this difference can make interpreting aggregated... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

What's up, Gen P (for post-COVID/pandemic)?
This is meant to be an anonymous, self-reflective thread. This original prompt could get reposted to different student communities. In various professional chats, many faculty/health educators have been commenting that "students are different since the pandemic." No one is able to really put a pin on what is different about "the culture", but many of their comments address challenges when it comes to how students relate or bond with each other. I'm sure the COVID year had thrown a wrench... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How to factor in location for residency rank list?
Hi all, one of my goals after PM&R residency is to re-locate back to my home state to be close to family. I have heard of stats saying the vast majority of residents land their first job within a certain radius of where they trained. For those who moved across the country for training, how difficult was it for you to job search, make connections, and re-locate back home? I interviewed at programs in my home state, but they don't exactly offer what I'm looking for in a residency from an... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Infectious Disease? This Thread is For You
ID is probably the most under the radar speciality in medicine. It took a global pandemic for anyone to know we even existed. I’m writing this thread not because I feel some sort of ego shame that my speciality is considered undesirable or non-competitive. People don’t want to go into ID. That’s fine. I know ID is not paid well relevant to other medical specialities. However, even considering that big factor, it still really baffles me why my speciality is as unpopular as the NRMP match data...
