Differences in discharge letter content: oncologists ’ vs. home care physicians’ needs
ConclusionTransitioning to home-based palliative care may necessitate accurate information and consideration of patients ’ and families’ perceptions and emotions regarding medical conditions in discharge letters for continuous provision of high-quality care. (Source: Supportive Care in Cancer)

Update on Percutaneous Ablation for Sarcoma
AbstractPurpose of ReviewTo provide an update on the current state of percutaneous thermal ablation in the treatment of sarcoma.Recent FindingsData continue to accrue in support of ablation for local control and palliation of specific sarcoma subtypes such as extra-abdominal desmoid fibromatosis and for broader indications such as the treatment of oligometastatic disease. The synergistic possibilities of various combination therapies such as cryoablation and immunotherapy represent intriguing areas of active investigation. Histotripsy is an emerging non-invasive, non-thermal ablative modality that may further expand the th...

Cancers, Vol. 16, Pages 1612: How Do Quality of Life (QoL) and Symptom Burden Evolve in Inpatient Palliative Care (PC) Patients Following One Week of Care in a Specialized Palliative Care Unit (PCU)? A Comparison of Two Groups, with One Receiving Specialized Outpatient Palliative Care Prior to Admission
Conclusion: The findings of our study demonstrate that QoL and several symptoms prevalent in cancer patients cared for in the PCU experienced significant enhancement over the span of just one week. Both groups, patients receiving specialized outpatient PC prior to admission and those without, equally benefited from inpatient PC. All mentioned changes from T0 to T1 are considered not only significant but clinically relevant. (Source: Cancers)

Implementation of a simulation free palliative Radiation Therapy pathway: An inter-professional collaborative project
The Western New South Wales Local Health District (WNSWLHD) has a significant footprint within the state of New South Wales (NSW). Due to the significant size of the WNSWLHD, patients residing in the local health district face many barriers to receiving Radiation Therapy. The inter-professional collaboration behind the successful implementation and evaluation of a simulation free pathway for palliative Radiation Therapy in WNSWLHD will be explored within this narrative. The process known in WNSWLHD as Medical Imaging Simulated Radiation Therapy (MISRT) removes the need for a computed tomography (CT) simulation and allows f...

The tumor immune composition of mismatch repair deficient and Epstein-Barr virus-positive gastric cancer: A systematic review
Gastric cancer (GC) is the sixth most commonly diagnosed cancer with a global incidence of more than one million cases and the fourth leading cause of cancer death with a mortality of 768.793 cases worldwide.[1] Five-year overall survival (OS) of patients with early GC is around 90  %, yet decreases to 50 % for stage II and III, and even less than 5 % for stage IV disease.[2] In case of metastatic disease, palliative systemic therapy can prolong life and is associated with a median OS of 11–14 months depending on the specific molecular profile. Partially Ablative Body Radiotherapy (PABR): A novel approach for palliative radiotherapy of locally advanced bulky unresectable sarcomas. In regard to Yu et al
We were intrigued by the study conducted by Yu et al. [1] on demonstrating the effectiveness and safety of 'Partially Ablative Body Radiotherapy' (PABR) for treating bulky, unresectable sarcomas. The study introduces a new method called PABR and discusses its outcomes when used on a group of patients with locally advanced, bulky, unresectable sarcomas, including those with a prior history of radiotherapy (RT). We appreciate the authors' innovative work but would like to address some points. (Source: Radiotherapy and Oncology)
