WAMC: Lower but upward trend GPA; Average DAT
Date of submission: 8/7/23, Verified 8/25/23 Overall GPA: 3.52 Science GPA: 3.46 Bio-Chem-Physics GPA: 3.31 (Currently taking Physics) As a nursing student I was not passionate about the path I was taking (nursing) and really suffered during school (leaving my nursing university with a 3.2 GPA). I made this clear and talked about my journey in my personal statement, so I believe my rising GPA shows dedication and a passionate need for my career as a dentist. DAT score (include AA and... Leaving Nursing School for Medicine, How To?
I recently posted on WAMC, but now I've pretty much committed to dropping out of nursing school to pursue medical school. I'll share some background then get to the question. I entered into college wanting to be a doctor but settled for nursing after withdrawing from OChem 1. Long story short, did pretty crap on biology pre-requisites but got into state nursing school which was pretty competitive (balanced out bad sciences because I am a male and did really well on the non science nursing... electives during fellowship
Currently doing fellowship and unfortunately I am the only fellow (no senior fellows to guide). I have already been exploited by nurses and medical assistants when I first came here to do their share of work (prior authorizations, medical forms), and this place has an NP telling the fellow the tasks and the schedule. Now they are saying that during electives I am supposed to stick to my normal clinic schedule that I have year around (not including research) in addition to the elective. On my... Strike?
Please tell me one reason that doctors can't / don't strike? this is why nurses consistently get paid more for their training than we do. we could bring the system to its knees if doctors took a single day off.... Kaiser Permanente workers say deal unlikely to avert strike The coalition of unions representing healthcare workers at Kaiser Permanente said late on Saturday it is unlikely there will be a new agreement with the healthcare provider, as their current contract expires and the unions prepare for strike action. ...

NPs can now train in EM MD Fellowships
The precedent has been set. Can’t get warm bodies to fill EM physician residency positions let alone a fellowship spot. EM is an absolute joke of a speciality. So what is the plan to combat this? Community College vs. University for Science Prereqs
Hello! I'm about to graduate from an AS of Nursing program with a 4.0. Even though my program is a community college program, it's known to be one of the most intense and rigorous programs in the region, and I think(?) I'm the only student in my cohort that got a 4.0, so I'm feeling confident about it on my medical school application. That said, I'm comfortable at my college and was wondering if medical school admissions faculty would look poorly on my application if I did my Physics, Gen... What is the future of psychiatry?
My husband works for a large hospital system. There is one inpatient psychiatrist and there are two outpatient psychiatrists. There are at least 10 psych nurse practitioners. A look in our greater metro area came up with a few hits for physicians, but mostly nurse practitioners. Training for psych NP’s at our institution involves having students observe sessions. My mom is an np, and my husband (a physician) tells me she is dangerous because she doesn’t know what she doesn’t know. Is... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)
