Would you do it again? If not ICU... then what?
I was an ICU nurse before med school, and it was really working in the ICU that drew me to medicine (I'm now an m2). However, with as much as I hear about intensivist burnout and regret going into their speciality, I'm just wondering: would you do it again? And if you would not go into critical care, what would you choose? Were there other things you considered in med school that you wished you had pursued? I loved critical care as a nurse but I'm wondering if I'll curse the day I didn't... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Advice for obtaining research.
Hello everyone, I'm an oms1 that is really interested in psych and was wondering what else I should do to secure a research position. I have emailed 2 PDs near where I live and both said they will let me know if something comes up. I'm looking to do a poster or a presentation, I have too many bills to do a full project over the summer so I'll be trying to work to pay those. I have experience as a nurses aide before medical school and had psychiatric patients so I at least have that going. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Txa
Did a search for TXA use, and we all know of its benefits in trauma, total joints, postpartum hemorrhage just to name a few. In terms of total joints, wanted to see what other places do - IV, PO, Topical? All have shown similar outcomes. Single dose, multiple doses? If IV, who gives it - us or the preop nurses just before entering the OR? And biggest question - contraindications. If we don't feel comfortable giving it (history of CAD stent, DVT, etc) does the surgeon give it topical or... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Just sharing this post from pharmacy times. Challenges and Opportunities in the Future of Health-System Pharmacy. I was listening about 43 minutes into this video. Becoming a BSN/NP is harder than MD/DO
A current BSN student recently told me that becoming a nurse is actually harder than becoming a doctor. I asked why she said that, and she said because often times the nursing students at her school are the ones teaching the medical students. What is your opinion on this, or how do you handle this kind of conversation? I just smiled and changed the subject.. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
