SRS and Neurosurgery consults
Has anyone who regularly performs SRS found themselves in a workflow/practice where there is not an automatic referral to Neurosurgery for brain mets (i.e., a 5mm amenable to SRS)? I understand the history of SRS involving Neurosurgery for frame placement, etc., but are people finding there is valuable input regularly being provided in these instances? Apologies if this has been discussed in this forum recently. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Help me decide: UTSA or Texas Tech
I’m an OOSer. I wouldn’t mind living in Lubbock, at all. Really, the only thing I am having a hard time with is deciding between the two schools themselves—their programs in particular. Any thoughts on which is the better program and/or which would be better for getting a good residency. I’m leaning towards cardio, neurology, or surgery. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

letter to editor
How is it viewed to write a letter to editor for a nsg paper published 3 years ago? I see something glaringly wrong with the analysis that I wanted to point it. Is it too late now? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

reapply MD for 4th time or matriculate to DO?
Hi all, thanks in advance for all your help. I am a 3rd time MD applicant, and I have been waitlisted to 5 MD schools. I also applied DO for the first time this cycle, and I currently have 3 DO acceptances. I am strongly interested in going into a neurosurgery residency. Assuming that I do not get off any of the MD waitlists this cycle, I was wondering if it is worth reapplying again for MD or if I should matriculate into a DO program. I heard that it is much harder for DO students to match... reapply MD for 4th time or matriculate to DO? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Is gabapentin and/or lyrica safe in pregnancy and/or breastfeeding patients?

Outcomes
A lot is made out of the fact that orthopedics generally has patients with great outcomes and on the other hand, there are fields like neurosurgery where the opposite is often the case. I was wondering which surgical subspecialties have the best outcomes. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Neural prosthetics
If anyone is familiar, I'm curious as to how much neurology is involved in neural prosthetics and other spine injury tech. Is it mostly just a PMR/neurosurgery driven field, or are there neurologists out there playing a role? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Failed to match NSG. Reapplying to Radiology-Diagnostic. Chances?
4th year US MD, failed to match neurosurgery, did not SOAP into anything (probably bc my app was so specific to nsgy). Going to delay graduation for med school by 1 year and apply to radiology in the Match 2021. What should I do before ERAS opens for submission? Looking for guidance, friends! I'm thinking of taking an IR rotation (already took DR) and getting involved in some radiology research but what about away rotations? Should I include that I did not match in my personal statement or... Failed to match NSG. Reapplying to Radiology-Diagnostic. Chances? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mayo Clinic - DO preference?
I was looking at the match stats for TCOM and noticed a neurosurgery match at Mayo Clinic in Florida a couple years ago. As someone interested in the field of neurosurgery, I took a look at Mayo's program. Currently, they're only showing three of their current residents (not sure how many they have total). Surprisingly, two of the three residents are DO's. I looked at the Minnesota location and all of their residents are MD's from relatively competitive schools. Am I missing something... MS1 with research/residency question
As the title states, I'm a current MS1 and am interested by many different specialties. This Summer I'll be conducting public health research. My question is, how important is it for your research experiences to be in the same field as what you want to specialize/do residency in? For example lets say I want to do neurosurgery by the time I'm applying for residency. Would the neurosurgery residency programs even consider the publications/posters/presentations that I will get from my public... MS1 with research/residency question (Source: Student Doctor Network)
