Comparisons of short-term outcomes between robot-assisted, video-assisted, and open esophagectomy for resectable esophageal cancer after neoadjuvant treatment: a retrospective study
CONCLUSIONS: Compared to VAMIE, no clear benefit exists for RAE in the treatment of resectable EC after neoadjuvant therapy. OE resulted in a longer hospital stay. Although the rate of successful right RLN node removal was higher with RAE, the clinical relevance for this is yet unclear.PMID:38617777 | PMC:PMC11009584 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-24-75 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Biofunctional study on chemoresistance in esophageal squamous carcinoma cells induced by missense mutation of < em > NOTCH1 p.E450K < /em >
CONCLUSIONS: The NOTCH1 p.E450K point mutation causes chemotherapy resistance in KYSE140 and KYSE450 ESCC cells. Cell functional experiments showed that the NOTCH1 p.E450K point mutation enhanced the proliferation, migration and invasion abilities of KYSE140 and KYSE450 cells and increased the number of cells in S phase.PMID:38617785 | PMC:PMC11009606 | DOI:10.21037/jtd-23-1880 (Source: Journal of Thoracic Disease)

Utility of human epidermal growth factor 2 heterogeneity as a prognostic factor in triple-negative breast cancer
AbstractIn some cases of human epidermal growth factor 2 (HER2)-negative breast cancer, including triple-negative breast cancer, HER2 expression is sporadically and strongly upregulated, a condition known asHER2 heterogeneity. We investigated the clinicopathological features of patients withHER2 heterogeneity in triple-negative breast cancers treated with neoadjuvant chemotherapy. Thirty-nine patients with triple-negative breast cancer who had undergone preoperative chemotherapy participated in this study. To assess forHER2 heterogeneity, we used dual in situ hybridization slides. We evaluated the association betweenHER2 h...

T-cell subsets and cytokines are indicative of neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy responses in NSCLC
ConclusionNeoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy drives CD8  + T cells toward a proliferative and active profile. The frequencies of CD137 + CD8 + T cells, PD-1 + Ki-67 + CD8 + T cells and Tregs at baseline might predict the response to neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy in NSCLC patients. The increase in IL-2 and CXCL10 might reflect the chemotaxis and enrichment of cytotoxic T cells at the tumor site and a better response to neoadjuvant chemoimmunotherapy. Is postmastectomy radiotherapy necessary for breast cancer patients with clinically node-positive downstaging to ypN0 after neoadjuvant chemotherapy?
ConclusionIn the context of comprehensive treatments, PMRT might be exempted in ypN0 breast cancer patients. Further large-scale, randomized controlled studies are required to investigate the significance of PMRT in this patient subset. (Source: Breast Cancer Research and Treatment)
