Both symbionts and environmental factors contribute to shape the microbiota in a pest insect, Sogatella furcifera
In this study, a total of 142 S. furcifera individuals from 18 populations were collected from 14 locations across six countries (China, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos) analyzed with 2bRAD-M sequencing, to examine the effects of symbionts on the microbiota in the S. furcifera population, as well as the vital effects of environmental factors on the bacterial communities. Results and discussionBased on the results, in S. furcifera, the presence of symbionts Wolbachia and Cardinium negatively influenced the abundance of other bacteria, including Enterobacter, Acinetobacter, and Lysinibacillus, while Wolbachia i...

Validity and reliability of deriving the autoregulatory plateau through projection pursuit regression from driven methods
Physiol Rep. 2024 Jan;12(2):e15919. doi: 10.14814/phy2.15919.ABSTRACTTo compare the construct validity and between-day reliability of projection pursuit regression (PPR) from oscillatory lower body negative pressure (OLBNP) and squat-stand maneuvers (SSMs). Nineteen participants completed 5 min of OLBNP and SSMs at driven frequencies of 0.05 and 0.10 Hz across two visits. Autoregulatory plateaus were derived at both point-estimates and across the cardiac cycle. Between-day reliability was assessed with intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs), Bland-Altman plots with 95% limits of agreement (LOA), coefficient of variatio...

Comprehensive Review on the Genus Haloxylon: Pharmacological and Phytochemical Properties
CONCLUSION: Several previously conducted studies have validated multiple traditional uses of Haloxylon species. Further research is needed on Haloxylon plants before they can be fully utilized in the clinic as a potent drug candidate, as researchers are mainly focusing on alkaloids, diterpenoids, and triterpenoids, whereas there are many other types of compounds that may possess novel biological activities.PMID:38243976 | DOI:10.2174/0118715303270345231121112049 (Source: Endocrine, Metabolic and Immune Disorders Drug Targets)

An analysis of the dual burden of childhood stunting and wasting in Myanmar: a copula geoadditive modelling approach
CONCLUSION: The study provides data-driven evidence about the association between stunting and wasting and their spatial variation across Myanmar. The resulting insights can aid in the formulation and implementation of targeted, region-specific interventions towards improving the state of childhood under-nutrition in Myanmar.PMID:38238891 | DOI:10.1017/S1368980024000193 (Source: Public Health Nutrition)

Detection of enterovirus D68 among children with severe acute respiratory infection in Myanmar
CONCLUSIONS: To our knowledge, this is the first report of EV-D68 detection in children with acute lower respiratory infections in Yangon, Myanmar, in 2017-2018. Detection and detailed virologic analyses of EV-D68 in southeast Asia is an important aspect of worldwide surveillance and will likely be useful in better understanding the worldwide epidemiologic profile of EV-D68 infection.PMID:38233293 | DOI:10.1016/j.jmii.2024.01.001 (Source: Journal of Microbiology, Immunology, and Infection)

Community Health Recommendations Driven by mHealth Population Surveillance Data Amongst Burmese Displaced People in Eastern India: A Pilot Usability Assessment of a Mobile Health Application for Data Collection
AMIA Annu Symp Proc. 2024 Jan 11;2023:933-941. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTWith recent increases in armed conflict and forced migration, refugee health has become a growing priority amongst those who work in global health. Refugees and forced migrants, also known as displaced persons, face barriers to accessing health services and are often at an increased risk for adverse health outcomes, such as sexual violence, infectious diseases, poor maternal outcomes, and mental health concerns. Mobile health (mHealth) applications have been shown to increase access and improve health outcomes among refugee populations. Our study aims ...
