Help with a Little Conumdrum
Hey All, I am currently a floater at a retail chain where half of the stores I go to are OK and the other half are pretty rough. I would say that for the majority of the past 6 months I have been at the rougher stores (high medicaid population, high percentage of scripts are Norco/Perc's, extra DEA compliance). Currently there is an opening at a store that I believe is the least desirable store in the district (rougher store, 45 minutes away from my house, extended hours store, weak staff).... Why do dentists accept Medicaid?
Hello dentists, I was just wondering what your thoughts are on for dentists who accept medicaid. Why do dentists choose to accept medicaid knowing that they will receive significantly lower funds than if they didn't? Are dentists who accept medicaid bound to it for life? Is it possible to pay off all loans and accept medicaid? What are the pros and cons? Thanks SDN - just curious (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Pts insurance type doesn't matter for my pay as a hospital employee?
Quick question. I interviewed with a hospital. 1. They told me that my pay is based on RVUs, irrespective of the pts type of insurance. Can this be true? I don't see how they could pay me the same for seeing/injecting a Medicaid vs a commercial insurance pt? 2. Also, after two years it is no base, all productivity. It seems there is an enormous backlog of pts...maybe this is ok? Is this normal for hospital employees in pain and other specialties? I could definitely try and... Opinions on Florida and living with CF; Doctors, Clinics, Medicaid, etc.
My daughter is almost 18 and has CF. She has been on disability for almost a year. I am considering moving to Florida from Ohio. She is trying to decide whether or not to come. I believe the more stable weather will be a benefit to her. She has been seen at Rainbow in Cleveland her entire life. I need info on the clinics in Florida. How they stand up if a lung transplant is ever required. And insurance matters. She is currently covered under her Dad's private insurance (but not sure how long) and medicaid because of her disability. This is a scary move and decision to change providers after all this time so any i...

Medicaid criteria for Orkambi
This is Fl, but I think it came federally and thus would apply to all state Medicaid program (but not positive). http://ahca.myflorida.com/medicaid/P...i_Criteria.pdf Note they are saying between 40-90% FEV, but that IS NOT a label criteria and the FDA label actually says those under 40% FEV should have extra doctor supervision, so for those outside the parameters on Medicaid, it might mean a fight/appeal, which alone might leave you exhausted and breathless for FEVs. SSI after transplant
Has anyone been successful retaining SSI/Medicaid benefits post transplant? We're four years out and although the surgery was successful, my son's is experiencing other complications--diabetes, multiple skin cancers, gall bladder removal, low weight and pulmonary function levels that are stable but not great. There is no way we could afford the 20 prescriptions he is on and full time work is out of the question. He is undergoing a disability review. Thoughts? (Source: Cystic Fibrosis Transplants Forum)

Getting the cost of Mini One AMT coverered
We have twin girls with CF. They are 11 months old and after battling with ng feeds for the last 10 months- they had Mini One tubes placed last week. Going into the surgery- the doctors told us that we would have 3 mini ones covered each year through insurance. But now as we are trying to get our replacements ordered- insurance is telling us that they only cover $36 of the $190 cost because that is what the government says a g tube should cost. Does this sound accurate based on anyone's experiences? We do not qualify for gov't assistance through SSI, BCMH, or Medicaid. Any thoughts or ideas or similar experiences woul...

Medicaid
When will people realize that Medicaid is bankrupting our country? If people are on Medicaid they are always "sicker" getting 10 prescriptions at a time? Why is the taxpayer paying for your aspirin? Why is the taxpayer paying for your suboxone? It's not my problem you're addicted to drugs. Tax payer paying for your birth control? Your plan b??? And they fill crap, don't even take it, just refill it because it's free. "refill anything I can get" is the classic line. Aside from the fact how much fraud there is. Tax payer paying for that 10 percocets that they get from the ER that they sell on the ...

New CMS ICD App
This study cut right to the heart (no pun intended) of this industry and how crucial it is that cardiologists fully understand the specific guidelines set out by CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) for these types of procedures. The CMS guidelines are confusing and difficult to follow - even for the most experienced cardiologists. Although the guidelines for ICD implantation were developed by CMS, based on objective clinical data, they are labyrinthine and nearly impossible for even the most caring and ethical physician to follow for all patients.   In response to the astounding percentage of inappro...

Beth Sufian's guide to insurance
Passing along this information: ---- Children and adults with cystic fibrosis (CF) need some form of insurance coverage to help pay for medical care and medications needed to treat the disease. Beth Sufian, the author, has developed a general guide with Gilead Sciences, Inc. to assist people with CF, their families, and healthcare providers in identifying potential health insurance policies offered by an employer, and government programs such as Social Security benefits, Medicaid, Medicare, and state-government programs. In addition, the Affordable Care Act may help people with CF access coverage. To download a co...
