Is this a good offer?
Just wondering expectation is to see up to 28 pt a day with 25 on the low end. Im being told 4 pt per hour on avg for repeats and about 30-40 min for a new patient. income is first 2 years 200-210 + bonus + loan repayment. supposedly growing town with large base of patients that need to be seen. doesnt matter what insurance they have they wont penalize me for seeing bunch of medicaid within 30 min of a million+ city Is this reasonable or not doable? if i like everything else about... Private practice family medicine still possible?
Still possible for FM doc to start a private practice after residency? I totaled up bills average around 200-220k per year with three employees. Estimating the average physician sees approximately 18 patients per day if the schedule is fully booked for 240 work days out of the year approximately 4320 visits per year. Average reimbursement for medicare is less than 50$ per visit while medicaid is less than 75$ so 50/50 practice would earn 62.5$ per visit or 270,000 per year working 9 hour... Dentists working in community clinics- how many patients do you see per day?
How many patients do dentists working in community clinics in states like California/New York see each day? I believe these clinics if they are FQHCs get some federal grants. Medicaid/Dentical reimbursements are low in California. So, how many patients do you see each day and what kind of salary do these clinics generally offer? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Disowned and kicked out for being a lesbian, had to take a gap year, how do I talk about it?
Hello, SDN. I've been on a bit of a hiatus, but I'm glad to be back. I was disowned and kicked out for being gay in May 2015, which resulted in me having to take a gap year to stabilize myself financially and emotionally before going back to college. I am scheduled to graduate in 2018 now from a new school. It has had a major impact on my life, and I had to apply for Medicaid and other low-income programs to stay afloat. This inspired a lot of interest for me into rural and impoverished... Disowned and kicked out for being a lesbian, had to take a gap year, how do I talk about it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Nursing home and residential tx jobs?
I need some help. There are two facilities near me that are offering me some options as i build up my practice. 1) Nursing home with medicare/medicaid mix less than 5 minutes from my house : have about 30 dementia/alzheimers locked unit and another 20-30 patients on other units that they want me to round on at least 1x a month. There is already a medical director there. I would bill on my own which is fine so i'm guessing 50 pts x 60 dollar a visit. 2) Residential tx facility medicaid with... Fraud of Rodger Chou: Case Study from Washington Medicaid Costs
Rodger Chou is one of those frauds that does really no clinical work but has found a "niche" in the healthcare system where he can become a paid whore of large FOR profit consultant groups such as "Spectrum" that get paid >80K per "analysis" to determine "cost savings" for individual states such as Washington. Apparently, guys like Chou/Deyo were supposedly going to decrease the cost of healthcare through cutting out procedures right? Well, lets do a case study of their "success" so far... CV Question
Hi all! I am a first year doctoral student in the process of making my first CV (I've always used a resume). I have a question that I hope you can help me answer. I know you are generally supposed to include your supervisor's name when listing your previous employment. However, I really don't want to do this with one of my former jobs. My supervisor was absolutely horrible. I spoke up and testified against how she/the company were abusing clients as well as committing medicaid fraud. She... Medicare Proposes More Mandatory Bundled Payments
For years, physicians have watched Medicare roll out pay-for-performance demonstration projects and ask for volunteers — soft healthcare reform, as it were. The move from fee-for-service (FFS) to value-based reimbursement took a hard turn, however, when the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) last month proposed three bundled payment models for cardiac and orthopedic care that will be mandatory — not voluntary — for hospitals in select geographic areas. Some medical societies... Medicare Proposes More Mandatory Bundled Payments (Source: Student Doctor Network)

How do you pay for health insurance in grad school?
I'm not sure if this is the right form, but since I'll be doing a masters in counseling, I thought I could ask it here? Let me know if there's a more appropriate form. I'm 22, starting grad school, and losing health insurance because I'm moving to a different state for school. I was on KS medicaid because I aged out of the foster care system, but that insurance does not transfer to other states. The state I'm moving to doesn't give medicaid to anyone unless they have children or are... How do you pay for health insurance in grad school? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Doubts about medicine; need help with considering other healthcare fields. All opinions appreciated
I'll try to get my points across quickly as I tend to ramble. I think I'm being deterred from medicine mainly because of the rise of socialized healthcare. I know for a fact from healthcare workers in my family and from the outside that primary care physicians are being forced to see more patients in a smaller amount of time because of low medicaid payouts. To me, one-on-one time with the patient is probably the most important aspect of being a physician. I watch a few medical channels... Affordable Care Act Question
Hello so I have couple questions that I need clarification on the experts (and to be experts). With the understanding of ACA, do people from states that don't implement ACA reform simply won't get any benefits from it? And since ACA already expanded Medicaid coverage for the low income populations, why can't it expand in full force and cover everyone who cannot access (financially) healthcare insurance? Is it simply the money issue or is there anything I am missing? I am still in the... Affordable Care Act Question (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Do you take Medicaid?
I was talking w. a community provider recently and we were lamenting about how hard it is to take certain insurance carriers, particularly Medicaid. Even worse, now it it "managed" Medicaid, which just means more paperwork for providers. I'm curious to see how it is elsewhere, as locally it is near impossible to find a private practice that takes Medicaid. I previously didn't take Medicaid bc they barely paid for ANYTHING in regard to neuropsych assessment, but now I do as part of... Do you take Medicaid? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
