ZusammenfassungBeim Pseudotumor cerebri (PTC) handelt es sich um eine seltene Erkrankung mit intrakranieller Druckerh öhung unbekannter Ätiologie. Ziel der vorliegenden Untersuchung war es, ein einheitliches Diagnose- und Therapieprotokoll für Kinder und Jugendliche am Universitätsklinikum des Saarlandes zu erstellen. Umbilical venous catheter- and peripherally inserted central catheter-associated complications in preterm infants with birth weight & lt; 1250 g
ConclusionThe catheter-related complication rates reported in this survey differed between UVCs and PICCs and were higher than those reported in the literature. To generate more reliable data on this clinically important issue, we plan to perform a large prospective multicenter randomized controlled trial investigating the non-inferiority of a prolonged UVC dwell time (up to 10 days) against the early change (up to 5 days) to a PICC. Myokarditis nach mRNA-Impfung
ZusammenfassungFallbeschreibung eines 15 Jahre alten Jugendlichen mit Myokarditis 4 Tage nach Erhalt der 2. BNT162b2 mRNA-Impfung (Comirnaty®) ohne erkennbare andere Ursache. Klinisch präsentierte sich der Patient mit thorakalen Schmerzen. Es zeigte sich ein erhöhter Troponin Wert bei erhaltener linksventrikulärer systolischer Funk tion. Die kardiale MRT lieferte einen eindeutig pathologischen Befund. Unter symptomatischer Therapie und strenger Bettruhe zeichnete sich ein milder Verlauf mit rasch eintretender Spontanremission ab. Hemispherotomy in an infant with hemimegalencephaly and Ohtahara syndrome
SummaryWe represent the case of a premature twin neonate born from uncomplicated pregnancy who developed seizures at the age of 24 h. Two-dimensional ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging revealed left-sided hemimegalencephaly. Further extensive diagnostic evaluation revealed a diagnosis of Ohtahara syndrome. Resistance of t he seizures to antiepileptic therapy led to hemispherotomy that was performed at the age of 10 months. Our patient is now a 4-year-old child, walking, eating without a nasogastric tube, still with right hemiparesis and lateral strabismus but without seizures. Alopecia associated with dimethyl fumarate treatment for multiple sclerosis
SummaryAfter 2 weeks of treatment, a woman with multiple sclerosis treated with dimethyl fumarate developed alopecia. Considering the adverse events, the therapy was discontinued, leading to alopecia regression during the next 3 months. Although the precise mechanism has not been completely elucidated, glutath ione depletion or downregulation of aerobic glycolysis are considered to be potential reasons for hair loss induction.
